Have been offline for a

Have been offline for a couple of days, so haven't experienced any problems... yet. Did have a HUGE battle getting rid of something called a goodsearch toolbar (I think). Just appeared out of the blue yesterday afternoon when I turned the computer on.

What a nasty bit of won't-take-no-for-an-answer software that was. All fixed now though :)

Hope your vocal bits are feeling better today David :)

Light snack for those who need it :)

and in the hope of tempting TL to rematerialise his tardis...

Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.

These unwanted toolbars are a

These unwanted toolbars are a right PITA. The problem is that almost anything you download these days gets paid money by these toolbar people to secretly install their product. Another one in the Ask one.

Light snack looks tasty :-))

Isn't goodsearch the one that supports Seti right on the Seti home page?

I thought so at first, but it behaved and looked like nothing I'd seen goodsearch do on my other computer, and it made boinc utterly unusable, even when I reduced crunching to just one core. I'm trying to remember the company that spyhunter listed as being behind it. It wouldn't surprise me if it was completely different to what it should have said.

RE: I remember buying

Quote:

I remember buying one of those for an old friend of mine couple of years back.

Unfortunately we aren't on the best of terms anymore after his last birthday 3 weeks ago

He got really drunk before I got there.

I guess the bar staff was trying to sober him up, giving him bottles of water to drink.

Walked in and saw him leaning over the garbage can, went to check on him.

He looked up, open the bottle of water and proceed to "baptize me" with it. Unbelievable.

Only the fact that he was a) my friend b)totally drunk kept me from bounding the $%^% out of him.

That ended my night out right there. Left him with some of his other friends and went home. (From what I heard it only got worse after that)

Oh well...

Yes... not sure I would have

Yes... not sure I would have been too thrilled either, Zalster. If it was standard practice to go to birthday celebrations with a big fluffy towel for such eventualities, fair enough, but it isn't. I remember an overly-indulged friend deciding I needed to eat icecream at a party. I didn't. Not at all. But she wouldn't listen until I was wearing it. I did get an apology about a year later. She'd been feeling a little insecure in her relationship, the other half of whom had sat next to me to tell me about some owl he'd seen the night before. Being polite and quite interested in owls, I'd listened, whereas everyone else had staggered off. She thought it was suspicious :)

It's all good. Hope you

It's all good.

Hope you are feeling better anniet.

Read thru the thread and saw what happen to you.

I'm awfully sorry to hear that.

But I do have good memories of parties at his house with that machine. Pool parties that did require a big fluffy towel, lol...
