I showed her my list with the one thing I couldn't read, she said "that says lemon juice" and she was RIGHT!!
:))) I wrote cherry coke on a list once, for my other half to get. There were only three other things on it. He should have been back in less than fifteen minutes. He wasn't. As he came through the door nearly two hours later, he started raving something about how he'd been everywhere and what was wrong with all the local shops, but that he'd finally found one in the supermarket ... and handed me a cake. :)

With no more than 2 or 3 items per page, and resembling a large picture book for pre-readers...it might not matter that these days he needs glasses and can't always find them ;)
May I enquire how he took to the news? ;-)
He became, Mr Ffing, what I can only describe as radicalised.
He had given me a small, loaf-shaped thing, inside a clear cellophane-style wrapper, with an upside-down-yet-greaseproof-paper-up orientation, at a time my expectations were milk, coffee, sugar or a fizzy drink.
It seemed perfectly reasonable to ask him what it was.
In the pause before: "What do you mean "what is it?" It's CAKE! CAKE" and throughout, I was at least able to confirm he was right, it was cake, because I'd turned it over, and seen that it was. So I said so. That it was even a thing. is what really surprised me.... I mean why would anyone abominate a perfectly good cake by filling it with glace cherries? So I said that too... and immediately had my eyes drawn away from peering into what was now a suspiciously empty bag which shouldn't be, to a St Vitus dance of wild patting and plunging of hands into pockets midst him yodelling: "Not even a THING!!? Are you serious?" in the middle of the kitchen, followed by "where is it? The LIST!! The LIST!! Where is it?"
Frankly, *blink*
...what I do under intense questioning is get a bit flustered... yes... so I went with the tried and tested throw-it-all-back it's-not-my-problem standby of: I don't know do I. You had it last,. and moved the topic hastily forward onto what was my problem... which was whether there was another bag with the coke in it...
Which is when his lungs depressurised.
Although it might have been after.
That, or flatulent vocal cords. Either way, being informed by guttural rasp that I'd never asked for coke (when I had, I just hadn't got any), reminded me of something I instead hadn't, but had and thought I'd mention it in passing ... which was, that what I'd actually never asked for was cake... especially che-...
which is when it finally sunk in, to both our brains.
To be husband proof Annie hath shown it must be printed and not cursive. ;-)
I think any form of husband proofing is never entirely anything other than... well... a work in progress really...
;)
Have a lovely Friday everyone!
Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.

I think the same thing can be said when sending anyone out to get something they are less than familiar with and expecting them to come back with the same thing WE would have brought back. I have given up asking my wife to bring something back for me when she goes out UNLESS I give her one just like it so she can get someone at the store to match it up for her. It's just easier to go myself than HOPE she brings back the right thing and then have to go get the right thing myself anyway!!
Friday are ALWAYS nice when you are retired and live at the beach!!

So Mikey, did you get much impact from Maria?
Nope a few very short rain showers and a little bit of breezy winds, nothing above about 30mph though, fortunately it cruised right on by. About 50 miles inland they got lots of rain though, so apparently the bands were spaced far enough apart that most of it missed me. Knock on wood NO storms to worry about so far this year have affected me!! Even last year when Hurricane Andrew came near me the only thing we got was some rain and a 20 hour power outage because a main line went down about 10 miles away, they fixed it and the lights came back on. I was not living here then though, I moved in on January 1st this year.
Today is supposed to be in the low 80's with tonight going down to the low 60's and Sunday and Monday daytime temps in the mid 70's, Fall IS here!! After that though we go back up into the low to mid 80's for the rest of the week with the chance of any rain being about 10 to 20% for each day.

Sole jurisdiction over purchasing became mine for some four years after our son passed. The little interest my beloved expressed in my efforts meant, I believed, that I had fended well for us. The years intervening have not always borne that out. ;-)
