Now this makes sense and it's what I was afraid of... I think it's time for a new computer...
Anyway, thanks to all for your persistence and assistance.

Donna,
At first I missed your reply buried in the quotations, but please don't be afraid to come back when you get your new machine. I'm sure we'd all just love to see you crunching away very soon now.
If you need any advice on a cost effective machine that would handle your daily computing requirements and deliver a healthy output of EAH results, please ask as I'm sure there would be a zillion people quite eager to give you two zillion opinions on what would be best for the job :).
Seriously, buying a new computer is fun so please have fun and ask if you are not sure about something. Best of luck to you!!

Gary,
I missed those clues in her readout. Whew, it's a good thing Donna lives in the US and has easy access to eBay, because her rig was even more shorthanded than that of our friend in Iran.
BTW, that lady has been MIA for a while here. Is there any reason that you can think of that might explain her last message of dismay and ensuing absence??? She's been quite active on the SAH boards, maybe because they have no restrictions on off-topic there.
Your friend,
Michael

EDIT - The forementioned lady has her 3rd Seti WU complete, credit there is ~69!
Have you seen her new sig stats, finally in glorious color?

Yes, it will be interesting to see what Donna chooses to buy. I wouldn't be surprised to see her back with her new rig raring to go shortly. I give her top marks for persistence.

Hardly MIA. Ariane's last post in the Cafe was just over two days ago in that thread where you were concerned about her "dismay". The conversation continued and I don't think there was any real dismay. I think she is probably heavily engaged in other pursuits now that her technical problems are sorted. I'm sure she'll let us know if anything "breaks" :).
If she's active on the SAH boards, good luck to her. She seems pretty adept at holding her own in any exchange. I don't have time or the interest quite frankly to follow what happens on Seti. There's too much noise over there.
Edit:
I didn't see your edit until after I'd posted. So she had around 38 for the first two so she must have got around 32 for the third if her total is now 70.
As far as signatures are concerned, I have them permanently turned off so that threads can load much faster. I simply don't download or see what people have for their sigs. If Ariane now has a spectacular sig, that's even more confirmation of her ability to absorb information and work things out for herself. I guess someone would have helped but she probably had to do a fair bit of playing to get what she wanted.

Yes, she showed a well-developed, rather charming way of laughing off some vicious cat-attacks here.

I agree with you there, lol. Trying to follow a thread in that asylum is asking to be inundated with static. All I did was bring up her profile there, and hit the messages link to see date/time.

Hello:
Just a quick note to let you know that I bought a new computer today. I pick it up Thursday and after I transfer some programs to the new system, I'll be up and running with enough RAM to handle whatever comes my way!

Good for you!! I didn't think it would take you long to get a replacement. I'm sure we'll all be keen to hear all about your new toy and to see it in action shortly, crunching for EAH.
