What? I had a rather large rollicking from my company nurse many years ago because mine was "up" to 4.1!! 6.2 I wouldn't have lived to tell the tale :-)
I dunno mumble mumble, turn me back for 5 minutes, grumble, place goes to the dogs, mumble, can't get the staff these days, mumble.
That's the second time recently you guys have posted funny numbers like that...what does the number 6.2 or even 4.1 have to do with Cholesterol? Here in the US mine is down to 90 TOTAL, both my LDL and HDL, and the Dr cut my Statin drug in half because it's doing so well. We must be using a different scale or measuring something different.
My Diabetes is measured that way and mine is down to 5.9 because of my dietary changes over the last year or so.
Your 5.9 for Diabetes is your A1C Number, Mikey. When I get my annual physical done, they don't always give me an A1C test in my blood work; they do use the raw sugar level, which was 90 for me last year. This is good for me, because, I'm on one Bipolar Med that has a side effect of raising blood sugar levels...
Before going on Atkins' Plan, my raw blood sugar levels hit 101 a couple years ago!!! OH, I forgot to mention that my numbers are WITH Metformin in my system. I take the Metformin due to the complications and side effect of the Bipolar Med! Uncontrolled, the Bipolar Med could really do some damage to my blood sugar levels, and, (combined with the routine corticosteroids that I take for my asthma), could cause Diabetes in me.
My next physical is on the 27th of this month. Wish me well.

Yes I knew that, I used to be an insulin dependent type 1 diabetic, my numbers were REALLY bad, I have lost over 150 pounds in the last 2 years and my numbers are down to 5.9, which is GREAT for me. I do still take Metfomin too but now it's because it may reduce the desire to eat as often, I don't know if it's working or not though as I tend to eat on a schedule. My numbers are consistently about 110 to 120 every morning when I wake up and my Dr is happy with that, no more in the 350's anyway!!!
It's just different units for different countries. Yes, you would be right to expect some uniformity. DownUnda we measure cholesterol in cheese molecules per backyard BBQcubic parsec trip to the shops, and alcohol in the number of A4 pages on the arrest sheet.
Cheers, Mike.

There was a comment from the laboratory in the section below the numbers "no evidence of regular alcohol consumption". As I know these guys personally I'm pretty sure they are pulling my leg ie. "we know otherwise, but can't prove it on this occasion ...." :-))
Cheers, Mike.
( edit ) It is quite unusual ( IMHO ) how many times I have much the sort of conversation as follows with patients these days :
Patient : But that's just your opinion.
Me : Certainly is. However we are not critiquing a movie, or reading poetry or sports commentating.
Patient : Yeah, but Dr. Google says ....
Me : Oh ? So what were the findings upon Dr. Google's examination of you ? What physical tests were normal ? What did he discover that wasn't right ?
Patient : Um, err, studies show ....
Me : Yes ?
Patient : What was it you were saying about my results ?
Me : Indeed. I interpret physical measurements for you as a specific individual. Not as a member of some pigeon hole category. A biologically unique instance, genetics plus life experience. So I am selling you my analysis of specific facts as demonstrated for you personally. If you want a statistical judgment based upon false assumptions, spurious correlations and ridiculous simplifications then you've got the wrong doctor. No, I don't review the internet and so go ask whoever wrote whatever.
The greater sadness underlying these behaviours is the ensuing tragedy when it all goes **** up. As it does all too often. Lethal Factoids not unlike ignoring gravity when parachuting. Reality diametric narratives. Clever poppets kill themselves in droves for want of a reality check. Is this Darwinian I wonder ? Internet Meme Lemmings. The biological process is truly independent of human cognition unless that results in positive intervention ie. there is optimism and then there is denial of reality.
Or, as a retired senior police sergeant friend of mine sez : "You can't fix stoopid."
Or as I say : "Pride cometh before the casket." Which is why I gladly submit to the judgment of a ( good ) colleague. You can't reliably detect faults from within the device you are describing. Even/especially myself. Medical professionals have produced the most epic examples of self-analysis failure.

CONGRATS on the weight loss, Mikey!!!!! That's FANTASTIC!!!!! I've lost 59 lbs over the last year and a couple months. I'm hoping to lose more this year and next year. Goal Weight for me is 140 to 145 lbs. It will just take discipline and time. (...And exercise... )
My last A1C was a couple years ago, (before I started Atkins), and was 5.7 while on Metformin and my Bipolar Med. I'm hoping, (now, with the weight loss), that this, too, is down a few points...
LOL. Someone has claimed/owned the prediction that David Rockefeller would die this year ! As the guy was only 101 years old, who could have picked that ? 'They' ( also known by the 'name' of Anonymous ) even said he would die because his heart stopped beating. Such prescience. :-)))
Being a key Illuminati figure he hasn't actually died, 'cos they're immortal. So has probably just shape-shifted. Don't know who to yet. All lizards on the property were inspected closely and will remain in indefinite custody. Got to keep the franchise going .......
Cheers, Mike.
( edit ) Shall I give you the link to the YouTube video, just posted, which gives hard evidence that the prediction was made earlier this year ? But was only released after Mr Rockefeller's death ? No. I won't insult your intelligence by assuming that you need reassurance that it is all true what 'they' say. Oh My Goodness. Even spin can be spinned ..... :-)

Stumbled across a useful tip and immediately thought of you lot. Yes.
Red sky at night. Shepherd’s delight. Blue sky at night. Day.
Good whatever-time-of-it-it-is-people-that-I-have-missed-a-lot - which-is-everyone :) Just thought I should pop in to say that when I've finished doing this popping in that I'm doing here now *...breathe...* that I will then be popping out for awhile longer than I already had done beforehand afterwards (which if you read again, you will find does make sense actually. Yes. Even I was surprised at that).
*do NOT blink during cheers* I knew that would please you all :) And of course, you're all veryvery welcome.
Credit where credit is due however. I am not being considerate. My preference, unlike Mike's, would be to hang about the place insulting everyone's intelligence as they step through the door. Instead - circumstances have circumstanced me into contemplating the need to explore a hairy set of mined hedges at the end of a dung-strewn path that may (or may not) have a precipitous drop into something nastier on the other side *...breathe...* all whilst containing an embedded wall that doesn't yield to anniet-sized-shapes.
And knowing my me as I do, and how tempting it will be to bury my head in a boinc message board instead of dealing with stuff there is no right or wrong answer to, but - JUST A DECISION - I will also temporarily absent myself from all that "connectingtotheinternet -> workfetch -> ooh-well-while-I'm-here-I'll-just-browse-stuff" too.
Before I do that though, for those who would like to read the shorter version of this, what you really should have done was start down there where it says here because that is where that in fact is.
Here: I will be back in a bit :)
See? Told you so.
Anyway :) in the meantime,
xx and hugs with especially special ones for Kathryn.
Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.
