This afternoon I found BOINC displaying an unusual error message, and when I looked at the Messages tab, I found the following:
Sat Apr 3 07:03:12 2010|Einstein@Home|Message from server: Arecibo Binary Pulsar Search (STSP) is not available for your type of computer.
Sat Apr 3 07:03:12 2010|Einstein@Home|Message from server: Global Correlations S5 Engineering is not available for your type of computer.
I read this as Einstein@Home no longer works on my dual 2 GHz G5. I see nothing elsewhere on the website stating that PowerPC machines have been cut off from providing CPU cycles.
Is this really the case? If so, I'll find another project to support or just save the energy and shut down the computer.

So what's wrong with posting this as a message to all PowerPC users OR on the website's news section instead of the message I received?

Thanks to Bob for this

Thanks to Bob for this thread.
I have got the same problem since yesterday on my G5.
And Thank You Michael for the report.
I'm a member since early 2005 and that's the first time I have a problem with that project.
So, we'll be waiting...
Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks for the reminder. Today is the first day when I'm back at my desk after being away for two weeks; we didn't manage to build a PPC App before. It's not that easy, various pieces of software have evolved quite a bit since the last Mac OS PPC App was built (~2 years?) - LAL, BOINC etc. Particualry BOINC dropped support for Mac OS 10.3. Is any Mac OS PPC user still running 10.3?

I am. I have three machines right now that are running 10.3.9 and are doing fine (plus several running Tiger and Leopard). They don't produce much and are not energy efficient enough to justify their use much longer but they chug away on a couple of projects (Einstein and ABC) without any problems. Is this the end of the road for the Einstein units on these old machines?

I am not. I'm running 10.5.8.

It looks like I can't build current code with reasonable effort on 10.3 anymore. I'll focus on getting it to work on 10.4 with 10.3 SDK. Should work.

Most of mine are.
This is just to let you know

This is just to let you know that I'm working on it, though not exclusively. Right now the compilation takes an hour and linking still fails. I'll keep you posted.
