Dear Ariane,
I am glad that you are happy with your initial experience of Firefox. BTW, do you like the little curled-up fox logo?
Next up - do you have favorite websites, passwords, etc saved in IE? You may easily transfer them to Firefox.

Oh of course i have a lot of favorite websites and all things saved in IE, i will ask you later how to transfer them to Firefox.
Oh Michael, you can't imagine how happy i am with this Firefox, it s like i entered in a totally new world. Thanks a lot .
My dear Michael, i hope i don't bother you in this week-end, simply i wanted to tell you that Firefox is fabulous with Boinc , but to open my habitual sites on yahoo i have trouble, each time i clicked for example my horoscope , or International Yahoo Chat , i'v been asked for my password eternally without any result, it doesn't open. I even went to microsoft and followed the tips but nothing happened. I wish to have on my Firefox toolbars : Yahoo France for news in french, yahoo horoscope, My Yahoo, Yahoo Groups and Yahoo International Chat. For my mails i have not any trouble, i don't know why these others are locked on Firefox , i even tried google's home page, but without result . See you later,

Hello Ariane
I use Firefox too, and love it, but there will still be some site that doesn't work with it - this is getting better as Firefox gets developed. I'm using the 1.5 RC version. This is not the finished version in the 1.5 series, but what is termed a release candidate: used by those who want to look for bugs and report them, or people like myself who want just to have the newest program ! It IS possible that this new version will work with more websites, and the new version seems to pick up any preferences you chose in version 1.07. 1.07 is stable and works well, but misses out on some of the very latest developments. The basic problem with web site design is that for years, Internet Explorer has been dominant, and at the same time Microsoft has introduced certain types of code which are not standard (the standard being that code laid down by the W3C (http://www.w3.org) ). Because of its dominance many coders made site that only worked in Internet Explorer. This IS changing now, especially as Firefox is starting to be popular (have you tried the "tab" feature in Firefox ?) and as I said Firefox is being coded and developed to be able to handle these badly coded websites better in each release...
Now things are very clear to me and perhaps i will no more trying to manipulating the different toolbars and other options, i will continue using IE for my favorite sites of yahoo, thanks a lot,

Dear Ariane,
I shall now show you how to make Firefox learn all of your bookmarks (favorites), passwords, etc from IE. In Firefix, click on the "File" button in the upper left corner, then click "Import". The Import Wizard will open, so now you make sure that "Microsoft Internet Explorer" is ticked, then click "Next". In the next box, all options should be ticked, then click "Next", then "Finish".
If you now click the "Bookmarks" at the top of Firefox, if should open a drop-down box with your familiar IE sites. When you go to your YahooMail site, it should remember your password, if you had already saved it in IE, and the same with the rest of your favorite spots.
If you go to a site where a password is needed and it is not already supplied in memory, you just enter the sign-in information to the site and Firefox will open a box offering to remember the settings for that site.
Your friend,
Michael

I'm really very satisfied with Firefox regarding EAH and Seti, but for the import story , i'v done all you told me with the file button and import , but when i go to for example yahoo astrology , the same problem occurs, i mean the page asking for my password appears and when i type my password i receive this alert telling me : "you cannot connect to login.yahoo.com because SSL is disabled" or " you cannot connect to sec.yimg.com because SSL is disabled", i don't know at all what is SSL ! Have you any idea ?

Dear Ariane,
I can tell you that SSL means Secure Socket Layer, a protocol for encrytion of private data (passwords, credit card #s, etc). I am surprised that Firefox did not have this enabled by default, but here I will tell you how to enable it.
In Firefox, click on "Tools" on the toolbar, in the dropdown box, click on "Options", then click on "Advanced". On the "Security" tab, in the "Protocols" box, make sure that "Use SSL 2.0" and "Use SSL3.0" are ticked. While you have that box open, make sure that in the "Certificates" box "Select one automatically" is ticked, then click on "OK".
Let's hope that this fixes the problem.
