Seti is rapidly losing it's former status as one of the best projects since it always seems to be down!! They even stopped paying the Boinc programmers and they now all have other jobs, and only program for Boinc part-time.

SETI was always run on a shoe-string. BOINC got separate NSF research funding to develop the idea of multi-platform infrastructure: now the concept's been proved, it no longer qualifies as a 'research' project in its own right, and needs to transfer onto core utility funding - but I haven't seen any moves in that direction yet.

I don't think that is quite true Mikey :-) It was the original project that is true, but as Richard says they don't get sufficient funding. If you would like to donate a new webserver for them I'm sure they'd be delighted to welcome you with open arms. A lot of their kit does need replacing that is true, but what they do with what they have got is simply amazing.
Waiting for Godot & salvation :-)
Why do doctors have to practice?
You'd think they'd have got it right by now
Maybe the new Breakthrough Listen initiative will provide some funding for SETI@home. Dr. Andrew Siemion, Director of Berkeley SETI Research Center will give a talk on Tuesday February 23 at the Microsoft Silicon Valley in Mountain View, CA. Attendance is free but you must register. I got a Notice on this in BOINC manager.

I think that's probably true - there are definite hints just under the surface that the big push to get a new version of SETI released at the new year was related to Breakthrough Listen, and it's about time they broke cover and revealed the next step in their future plans.
But getting Breakthrough Listen support for SETI will be of little comfort if the BOINC underpinnings grind to a halt for lack of funding. Einstein is to be commended for 'lending' the expertise of Bernd, Oliver, and Christian to help keep BOINC secure, stable, and up-to-date with emerging technologies. Einstein is well-funded enough to be able to absorb that contribution, but most smaller projects wouldn't know where to start - they need something that 'just works', now and for the foreseeable future.
I am crunching a lot of SETI@home v8 tasks, both with CPU and GPU on the Windows 10 PC, but also with CPU only on a Linux host. My SETI RAC is rapidly rising to the level of vLHC@home which used to be my main project. Instead all Einstein@home GPU tasks on the Windows 10 PC with Geforce GTX 750 board failed so far, so I am running Einstein@home only on the 2 Linux boxes.

Tullio,
Go to nvidia's website http://www.nvidia.it/page/home.html and download the latest drivers for your GTX 750.
Don't get them from windows update.
Then try shutting off all cpu tasks and running GPU only.
RE: Seti has gone down
Just the web server - the science is working as normal.
And BOINC is sulking - the server's there, but refusing to talk to me.
Yup that seems about the gist

But SETI never paid for the BOINC programmers.
