I sense *blink (interestingly unsynchronised mode)* ... you are not inconsiderably unconcerned about your toenails, Mike...? Or is it the goldfish you are lobbing clues in for? :)

*peruse red stuff*

Yes... *engage anniet withering device*

I've suspected *sNUFf* long and hard - that your "middle" might be more of an "in between" than a middle and now there are two... what would you like me to do with them... pile them up on top of each other perhaps...?

Thank you :) I will do that...

edit: oh... Chris appears to have done something very interesting... he's making patterns with his :)

I think this will prove

I think this will prove useful for everyone struggling to solve this jumble... and you are all ... *turn to address awestruck multitude working on solution* ... most most welcome... :)

I will be calling it The two middle problem of up to eleven letters but maybe only as little as five. or - TTMPOUTELBMOALAF for ease of remembering.

...and using this patterning:

Rimratnooselian - sounds elliptical to me so I am very very happy with it
Ramrensnootlian - because I can

Well I was tempted to take a

Well I was tempted to take a punt at this, but with four barge poles to handle, it didn't leave much time for strawberries and Champers down the Isis.

But this is what happens when you let women drive!

Ok, I'll put a Pound on the possibility of you throwing a double six. What odds do I get?

Last time I hired a punt on the river the chap shouted out "Ahoy No.61 your time is up!". The assistant said "But we don't have that many sir!". The next message was "Ahoy No.19, are you in trouble?". Poor chap was quite bedraggled, to say the least. Picnic hampers from Harrods floating down the river are not good news, nor it has to be said is the sight of your lady companions flowery hat doing the same ....

LOL! My dentist is sorely misunderstood by the general public ( indeed quite sore after last week's assaults ), as most have no idea of the servicing costs of his BenzRollerrari.

Cheers, Mike

That one? *cast jaundiced eye at Mike's favoured*

Oh.

I decided I didn't like that one...

not as much as I don't like dentists though. Although I did meet a very kind one when I was suffering erectile dysfunction quite a lot in April and May... yes... it WAS a top of the pile GP diagnosis, how did you guess? :) Nothing a spot of blowing up balloons and national grid plug-ins didn't sort out though, but I knocked out half a tooth during a crash landing and the emergency dentist who did the "temporary repair" was very nice and didn't mind my incredibly fat tongue full of stitches either :) Trouble is... my real dentist isn't prepared to make it a permanent repair. I always thought those questions they ask you beforehand about whether you suffer from anything, was to make sure they could treat you without any unpleasant surprises occurring. Apparently not. The unpleasant surprise is that the first time you answer yes - the dentist says no.

:))))

I'm not sure if things have changed in the world of dentistry - but I remember waiting outside Wits university for a lift home (the same day I saw the mesmerisingly gruesome spectacle of a praying mantis death-drinking a bee dry - interesting - in a sort of omeny kind of way) when a motorcyclist got knocked off his bike. The "medical response" to the incident must have looked very impressive to passersby because around a hundred people in white coats rushed to the scene. Fortunately, he wasn't injured... because the accident had happened in front of the dentistry wing, and they were all 2nd year students there - and they'd all become dentistry students, because they'd just failed their first year medical exams.

OK, we'll ask the audience. Okay everybody, the question is "Has Annie got a clue?" There are four possible answers.

A No
B Yes
C Maybe
D What was the question?

Fingers on buzzers, all vote NOW!

In orbital mechanics ( one thing going around t'uther ) there is this thing called an elliptic orbit. So while travelling along such a path there will be some times you'll be quite nearby and sometimes you will be rather far away. THIS IS ONE OF THOSE QUITE NEARBY BITS. :-)

Cheers, Mike.

( edit ) I can't hint much more than actually giving the answer. Hence, including anyone who wishes to risk the Wrath Of Annie, your moment ( death or glory ) is nigh .....

Going back to this big fat, not really all that helpful hint... I'm taking it to mean that the letters immediately before the N are IO and quite likely that the one before those is either S or T.

If we now come back to R_ _ _ RM_ _ _ LI_ _ _N being very promising, but take that to mean that perhaps the distribution of the middle pairs amongst the blank spaces is off somewhat, we can play with it a bit.

ROARMALISENTION
or perhaps
ROARMALITENSION

Neither of those seems likely, though.
