Our team is about to start voting on the next project to be assaulted.
Now I'd really like it to be Einstein, I voted for it in our last two assaults, but I think we need to sweeten the pot to make sure BOINC@AUSTRALIA chooses Einstein@home for all the extra science crunching we can bring to a project.
Not to mention the responses from other teams around our ranking. :)
I reckon if Prof. Bruce Allen throws his Cattle Station in with us for the 14 days, then Einstein is a shoe-in for our AA6 target!
Lots of team members stay on after the AA too. ;-)
What do you reckon Bruce, is it worth it?
This scantily clad bribe was brought to you by BOINC@AUSTRALIA (see sig 8-).
Hey, I'm open minded. Who wants me to do this?? And who wants me not to do this?? I'm listening (and laughing too).
Cheers,
Bruce
Although I'm a bit concerned that a few Einstein volunteers may not feel satisfied with the outcome of my very cheeky request to have Bruce crunch for BOINC@AUSTRALIA for the duration of our Aussie Assault. I must thank Bruce for joining us at all. It has made an amazing difference to the team. I did a few calculations last night but wont bore you with all the numbers but the teams Einstein out put has had about a 15 fold increase, almost half of that is from non-Bruce members. ;-)
The regular BOINC@AUSTRALIA crew have increased their Einstein science crunching commitment by a factor of 7. Which is quite a remarkable increase. Even more so when the teams remaining total combined output has only dropped by 45,000.
So all in all I need to thank Bruce for spurring the BOINC@AUSTRALIA team on to crunch more than double our normal daily science quota.
From everyone at BOINC@AUSTRALIA, thank you very much Bruce, we defiantly couldn't have achieved anything like this without your support. I'm so glad we could put such a big portion of our work into your excellent project.

I will write a script that once per week joins me and all of my computers (primarily the computing cluster of my UWM research group) to a randomly selected active team.
If anyone objects to this please explain why.
Cheers,
Bruce
Bruce.....
I'm the sole participant in my team (Interstellar Travelers). I think what you'd like to do with this script is a good idea and it will help attact many new volunteers. However, I'd like to respectfully have my team removed from the list so that you can direct your resources to other groups where the benefits of your participation will do the most good.
I've noticed in the past that you and I have shared some of the same workunits. Sometimes you finish before I do and some times its reversed. For me that is all the motivation I need.
Thank you for allowing me and my 3 lowly computers to be part of this exciting adventure.
Bruce when Boinc Synergy Had Einstein as POTM (Project OF The Month) in February you did not join us in our effort. I (as myself not representing the team)find it distasteful that you would put your credits to any single team.
You by yourself would be the 19th highest producing team why would you risk alienating all the other teams by putting your resources to just one ?
If they are the department computers i also do not like my tax dollars used to compete with me. If they are your personal computers i apologize for the last and commend you for your personal dedication to the project.
Thank you

Hi Stanley,
I'm sorry you are disappointed -- but if I had been directly asked to join some other effort I probably would also have responded positively. Anyway here is what I intend to do in the future. I will write a script that once per week joins me and all of my computers (primarily the computing cluster of my UWM research group) to a randomly selected active team.
If anyone objects to this please explain why.

Bruce
G'Day Bruce,
Another Australian but not from our biggest team, instead from one of the smallest (My bother and myself are the only currently active users, we are ranked 10th in Australia/top 400 in world).
I certainly am not disappointed with your decision.
Good on you for sharing youself and your resources around. It helps the project as it shows the other people crunching for Einstein that you share their passion for the project and are willing to join them as one of the team, showing that we are really all crunching together for the same cause.
I really think it is a great idea, others may not if they think you are showing bias but with you offering to spread youself around then I don't see the problem.
As for tax dollars well how many dollars are being donated but all the volunteer crunchers for this project, all up they probably exceed the tax dollars used in this project, so it just the project giving something back.
Again good on ya and I believe you will get thanks from any team you join (it would certainly give my team (Cobar Spiders) a boost.
We are still hanging out for you to join B@A Conan. It would be great for both sides hehe.Or you could just join us for AA's or just add your team to the fun and games.
@Bruce: What led to the building of such a large cluster?
Does the project need more computing power?
Would optimization or compilation into SSE3 specific binaries help?

That's a pity, I was looking forward to the huge input of crunching power L'Alliance Francophone could bring Einstein.
Do you think the team may reconsider?

I'll hang around for a bit. I guess years of 'Bruce' jokes have made me favorably inclined to the Aussie point of view.

Does this include Monty Python bits, also, Bruce?
Still hope "The Knights Who Say Ni!" are second on your list (-:
