I see Yoda managed almost as much as Bruce. Mike047 got a minus figure again, hope that didn't really come off his total! :O

It's a four fold increase in crunching in just two days!

RE: Hi Stanley, I'm sorry

Hi Stanley,

I'm sorry you are disappointed -- but if I had been directly asked to join some other effort I probably would also have responded positively. Anyway here is what I intend to do in the future. I will write a script that once per week joins me and all of my computers (primarily the computing cluster of my UWM research group) to a randomly selected active team.

If anyone objects to this please explain why.

Cheers,
Bruce

Hmmmmm, with the Horsepower you can bring to the table, this is the first really good reason I've seen to start or join a team! :-)

Naaahhh, it would just be another set stat pages I'd have to keep track of. ;-)

Well i welcome the push

Well i welcome the push along. As soon as i heard i started clearing caches and moving cores. I now have 5 of my 7 full time cores on Einstein. 4 are 100% and the last is about 80% due to having an extra long ABC workunit to crunch still. Unfortunately my last pair of full time cores are not able to participate due to Einstein not supporting 64 bit Linux machines and my being unable to get my machine to work with an app info (I keep getting error 22) even after altering all my permissions. I like most am dedicated to going all out for AA's but even i wont go as far as installing my OS over again.

Onya Bruce!

After getting a little bit blown about by TC George I've managed to get most of the farm back on line and 100% Einstein. The remaining boxes will be back online soon. Since I missed the start I'll just carry on a little bit longer.

I didn't know you were located up there. (passes out) Was George the first one or the second? Do you want any international help from FEMA????? (ROTFLMAO).

How are you holding up? What's it like to go through two cyclones so close together?!?!

UPDATE: I have a response from FEMA: We will not be coming . Hope that helps . The cheque is in the mail . (ROTFLMAO).

G'day mate

George was the first one, then came Jacob although Jacob was just a rain bearing depression by the time it crossed, but there was a bit of tension for a couple of days before hand because it initially was a cat 3 and potentially looking at intensifying to a cat 4. Two cat 4 cyclones in the space of three days would have been mayhem.

Apart from the tragedies further inland the town shaped up remarkably well.

It was pretty big in the news down here and it looked shocking. Cyclone proof workers huts blown to a million pieces. With all that debris lying around a second one would have been a major, major disaster.

I was living down here but I still remember Tracey very well (not exactly where you are but from here, it's relatively close ;-). Still have the front page from The Age, when Tracey hit. Looks like a bloody nuclear weapon went through the place!

Only four dead, yes? That was remarkable! With so many people not getting to safety, very remarkable indeed.

PS: Can you send Jacob down here? We REALLY need the rain.

Hi Bruce and

Hi Bruce and Aussies

Personal thought about Bruce joining B@A and scripting to join other randomly chosen teams : I do NOT think it is a good idea

1. From the stats point of view : switching will create a mess in all teams stats until all teams benefit from your crunch power. Which means years.
As this operation will take years to complete, workunit series will change and credit bonus will be affected. Moreover, your army represent a given power regarding the average power of machines on the project. In one year, the average power on the project will be higher due to the increase of users computer power. But Bruce's will remain the same (which means "less" important comparatively). So, it won't be fair.

2. From the "ethic" point of view : I do NOT think that a project power should credit any other team that the project'.

This is said without any consideration regarding AA6 : AF will not fight against as our rank is far from being in danger on Einstein@Home (even including Bruce contribution).
