hello crunchers.
what can i do to performe einstein program.
i run a pentium 4-HT-2.8 GIGA,PROCESSOR with windows xp.
i use the programme winner tweaks 3 already,this runs
down my,time for one wu to 12 hours.
can sombody help out, THANKS ON ADVANCE.

The overclocked Q6600 systems have the best performance/price ratio at moment.

There are no recent results in the Database for that host, so we can't really see if it's comparatively slow or fast.
Apparently using the Hyperthreading does increase performance overall, but it might be worthwhile to check this once in a while after new versions of the E@H software are released. It should depends on the code whether it's really helping to allow 2 WUs to be crunched in parallel or not.
Otherwise you should make sure that there are no other programs / services running in the background that you don't really need and that will only snatch away CPU cycles from BOINC / Einstein@Home. You can see some statistics on the "CPU efficiency" when you follow the links to that particular computer from your profile.

Yep, tweaking and tuning aint gonna make much of a difference, buy something better is the only thing that makes a noticeable difference. In addition, a modern Intel (or 65nm AMD x2) will save your powerbill, the performance per watt is much higher compared to P4.
Edit: Overclock would make a difference ofcourse...
I wonder about these Pentium E2140/2160, i have seen E4300's and other 2MB Core2Duo crunch pretty well in E@H, so maybe 1MB cache is good also? Anyone got results from E2140 or E2160?
And for value quadcore: Xeon3210 prices have dropped in some places, around 18% cheaper than Q6600 one place i checked. (Xeon3000 series are lga775, no need for expensive server mainboards, runs on the same boards as Q6600)

Ok, so no E2140/2160 yet.
BUT, my sis dropped off a lappy here today with a "Pentium Dual-Core" T2080 1.73GHz 1MB processor, thats the same core as E21x0 i think. The bus is only FSB533 (133MHz) so memory performance is crappy compared to desktop parts but maybe thats no big deal for Einstein.
Super-Pi 1M was like 39 secs, need to check some more before i connect it to E@H, hard to believe the low bus speed alone can make it that slow. Then again, Low Bus speed + Vista could slow things down that much maybe...
Edit: WELL, looks like this processor has nothing to with the desktop E21x0 processors, its a stripped Core Duo maybe, less cache and no VT. :(

"pentium dual core" is the core 1 duo equivilent of a celeron. They're c1d's that only have one of the two 1mb cache banks active, just like the original was a p2 with a cache that was disabled because it failed QC.
