RE: It's an ugly world for

It's an ugly world for sure. For the Register of Medical Practitioners here in the State of Victoria it was a slim margin that defeated a bill that would have required the home address of a doctor to be publicly accessible from that register. And few of us were in any contractual relationship with the state. Despite doubtful alleged benefits of that scenario, the matter finally turned upon a declaration/realisation/threat of liability to flow toward the legislators personally for the possible consequences. The clever argument was that if their actions in parliament was unconstitutional ( ie. the bill was ) AND that they were informed of that in advance ( because we just told you that ) AND they went ahead despite that THUS your house and mortgage sport! You see being an elected member only entitles one to behave within the parameters of that role ...... there is no bland disclaimer available - or at least there was a large bunch ( ~ 20K ) of well educated, well funded, well motivated and patient litigants quite prepared to test that!

Another approach was to refuse to divulge such information and see you in court for a class action, and yes that 'go ahead ..... make my day' would actually occur, no bluff, as it was certainly worth our while to do that. [ One other proposed tack was to publish GPS co-ordinates of all legislators homes, their families, their personal assets, registration numbers, descriptions etc. However, they'd got the point by then! ]

You do actually need to go for both the groin, as well as the throat, on these issues! :-)

Cheers, Mike.

Yeah, it definately is an ugly world out there. It sucks. I'm like mikey, I work for the public, they do pay taxes to pay my salary, but I as well pay taxes, and pay my fellow co-workers wages. In one hand, I'm at the mercy of the public, but on the other, I also have rights just like every other citizen. Its un-believeable how much information you can find on the internet about people. I've never posted my phone number, but the number of sites that had my phone number plastered on them was just crazy. I've since sent emails requesting it to be removed, I have an unlisted number, I don't need it on the world wide web.

I haven't heard any updates from our city about this whole thing, but we shall see what happens. The police officers and fire fighters are extremely pissed off, I can see this being an item of discussion and possible lawsuits for a long time coming. And I have no problem jumping in either. :-)

Next on my to do list is get a new heater core for my SUV. Damn thing is leaking anti-freeze. My mechanic can take my vehicle on Wednesday, so 2 days of smelling that stuff isn't so bad I guess. LOL

Well, back to work.

Well, for what it's worth,

Well, for what it's worth, here's some excitement - first circuits today. Take-off -> turn -> turn -> turn -> turn -> land/touch'n'go ...... repeat.

First landing approach, perfect rate of descent, right down the centre-line. Only one slight problem - crossed the runway threshold at 200ft above it. Whoopsie daisie ..... go around. Changing winds alter your glide angle. :-(

Second time, mild crosswind, some right rudder but didn't completely relieve that pressure on contact - skewed a fair bit to the right. Slight brown trousers ....

Third time turned for the long downwind leg, immediately heard a call from another plane doing the same - I looked but no plane behind me! Whoops, a plane ~ 100ft from our right front ~ 2 o'clock + slightly higher - had cut in on us. Naughty Person, Unsafe and Very Bad Etiquette. I saw him first and smartly swung the yoke left, while the instructor ( who was perchance looking the other way ) still beat me to the throttle! So cut the throttle and drop flaps. Made a call to see if they had sighted us - by then we were on their tail ( if only we'd had guns fitted .... ) - nope they hadn't a clue & some surprise expressed as to our presence. Hmmmm ...... hence the phrase Visual Flight Rules!!

Fourth time swung way late and had a long & wide circuit, but you have to keep tight and regular so that you can glide in if the engine fails.

Fifth & sixth uneventful bar a helicopter, well announced this time, sliding under us low and fast - as they do. Nice paint job.

Seventh/last time nearly perfect ( turbulence ) and I landed beautifully, on the money in all three planes, with the stall warning indicator beeping just ~ 2 feet before contact. Whew! My instructor looks across at me, smiling, and says "why didn't you do that the first six times?". I thought of kicking him, but I just said "I've been busy". We burst out laughing, but I still manage to brake before the verge and peel off to the taxi-way.

All in all, an outstanding hoot! Good spectator response, particularly for my 'mid-air' landing - don't you love an audience? But the lead instructor for the school gives us the nod for handling the cut-in well. He then went off to have a word with a completely different pilot altogether about exactly that matter. :-) :-)

Cheers, Mike.

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...
