21 points for me, but shame

21 points for me, but shame on me that I didn't want to invest my millions in the US of A. Oh damn, it's only foreign currency so my quarter ton of pure gold bars won't help here. My Olympic medal from 1992 ( for running quickly zig-zag while being chased by a crocodile ) doesn't count sadly. Could have been 22 if I knew the difference b/w 'excellent' and 'fluent' : does that mean I may not say 'Ricky Bobby' propurley ?

Talleydugga ... Tolledooga ... Tilleydiagra .... Tullydinga .... Terlydarga .... Twiddlingdingo ..... aw crap, a round racetrack !

I have four Bachelor degrees ( one for science, two for medicine, one for IT ) but the highest is still only Bachelor. Dare I be slightly political and reflect upon whose intelligence is being disclosed by this piece of law ? :-))) Or put another way : if I was younger and richer but still as smart I'd skip the bother & pick another country. Seriously I reckon they will lose far more worthy immigration candidates than they'd ever hope to gain. It's actually an insulting scheme.

Cheers, Mike.

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

A case could be made that

It always was a young persons world Mike, but us oldies always say that youth is wasted on the young :-))

A case could be made that

A case could be made that 10,000 years ago agriculture put hunter gatherers out of work.

Well one similarly, could also say that the invention of the wheel in 3000BC put labourers out of work, or that the invention of the sword made spear makers redundant. It's all down to human evolution.

Or put another way : if I was younger and richer but still as smart I'd skip the bother & pick another country.

I would agree with you. I don't see much to recommend living in America at the present time. But the incoming President did say that he wanted them to be more insular and put borders up, America for the Americans etc. Bears out the old adage, be careful what you vote for, you might just get it.

But Australia has upped the anti, now America, and others will surely follow suit. The UK is already planning tighter border controls once we leave the EU. The result will be millions of migrants roaming the world that can't find a home. Some will be war refugees which are a different case, as will be genuine political asylum seekers. But many will simply be economic migrants looking for a better quality of life elsewhere than staying in their own country.

What we don't want to see are Calais type camps all over the place. Perhaps pressure should be put on the leaderships of the countries that people don't want to live in, to solve their own problems at home, and not export them to the rest of the world. But we are in danger of straying into politics, so I'll leave it there.

But it does look like that if you're under 30, got a second degree (Masters) and speak good English, with a minimal job offer, people want you. Otherwise you're marked as "not wanted on voyage". Fair enough, Australia won't let you in unless you have a guaranteed job, or relatives that agree to support you. All based on someone not being a burden to the state.

Welcome to the 21C.

Would this post be winning me

Would this post be winning me the thread? I doubt it but still try.

BTW, I score 30 points exactly, but next year I will only get 28 points.

We seem to have an egg

We seem to have an egg problem in England at the present time, Déjà vu Mrs. Curry. Where is John Major when you need him?

Not looking good for Holland at the moment!

According to the bible birds

According to the bible birds and fowls were created first. They in turn laid eggs which produced more chickens.

If you don't believe in the bible, then it is likely that evolution created a hybrid winged land based bird, that laid eggs that evolved into chickens, so the egg came first.

It is a cause and effect dilemma, the solution to which varies from person to person according to their belief.

And don't ask why it crossed the road, because it got run over before it could tell us.

Would 68 be the magic number?

Would 68 be the magic number? If so then I win. If not then we have gotten one post closer to it unless the winner precedes this post.

And why did it cross the road? The question implicates that he/she/it succeeded at crossing. Else the question should have been, why did it try to cross the road.

It may have been ran over after crossing the road though, because it tried to cross it again or something or someone went off-road.

Anyways Chris, I forgot to mention that you have just created a double post. Therefore I'd like a drink. The commonwealth please.

Anyways Chris, I forgot to mention that you have just created a double post. Therefore I'd like a drink. The commonwealth please.

What happened there was that I made a post, then edited it, then re-posted it, but Einstein made it another separate post. Reporting double posts around here doesn't get any action, so rather then Red X it, I amended it to something else. So on this occasion I'm going to let Mike pick up the tab :-))
