Probably the real problems are known. So why is it that nobody has balls to talk about in a public manner?
Well they might be doing that to irritate you, as a specialised personal insult! You can't rule it out.....
Now that would certainly be more than 'a little creepy', wouldn't it? :-)

So I'm here for crunching scientific data, not for asking stupid questions. I understand. No community spirit required for that. Sad and poor.
So true! You see we have this problem where people manufacture or over-embellish concerns ..... you know - the ones that are particularly put out if they are not in every decision loop and are unable to trust the good intentions of others for instance. Now, you wouldn't have any suggestions how to deal with such people, would you? That way we can lift community spirit so that it is not as 'sad and poor'? :-)
Cheers, Mike.
I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

Sure, why not? I guess I would just engage some cynical a**hole to offend them all .

Well, I'll leave your post as an example to the forum. Normally that would be deleted, and we both know why...
Anyhows ( and just so there's no subsequent surprises for when it happens ) - that, for you, was Strike Two. :-)
Cheers, Mike.

We could analyze the problem going on here step by step.
The question was if there are users that experience problems after the update of the webpage.
The Answer truly is yes.
Why? Because the "Your account"-Page hast increased in size and could not be display fully in 1600x1200, to read the copy-right-information you have to scroll down.
That _IS_ truly a sign of bad design because on a informational page all information should be accessible _AT ONCE_ without interaction of the user.
The second point critizied was the point that an foreign team is linked under the "cross-project statistics"-point. The need of this whole point is a total secret to me and this point also do not bring me any extra information - so why not leave it out completely?
Furthermore it was asked why the heck the official client for _ALL_ operating systems is not updated to enable the clients to deliver _ALL_ the power they are able to deliver _FOR THE PROJECT_.
No answer for this question was presented.
It would be better not to waste the electric power the clients are "consuming" because energy is not endlessly - therefore it would be better to make the clients faster for they turnaround the workunits faster.
And last but not least the communication strategy of the programmers of the einstein@home-project was criticized - they offend the persons that are contributing to the project and do not reveal information to persons that are doing _THEIR_ jobs - if they talk a word in the last.
I think _YOUR_ whole policy towards the contributers of the project should be overthought. _YOU_ have to remember: _WE ALL_ do this _VOLUNTARILY_, other projects are at hand or i could at least turn my clients completely of and safe money.

Do you actually know what you are complaining about? Or is it more in the line of "OMG, it's so shocking and appalling. I have to scroll down to see the copyright notice! Shoot the programmer who did this!!"

It's not an information page without interaction, it's an interactive page, with links to click. Under those links you'll find more pages which you have to scroll. Or did you never set up your preferences? Probably not.
How do you survive on the internet?
All those pages with links, buttons and pictures to click. Dayum!
Or even these forums... this thread never fits into 1600x1200 without scrolling. And you can't have set up your forum preferences, as that would've meant clicking a link, scrolling, changing the thread setup, more scrolling and clicking a button.

Ok, you set up a statistics page and call it Roadrunner's Stats. The BOINC server software developers decide to add it in. What will it be called there? Yep, Roadrunner's Stats.
Should the whole world fall over it? Has anyone clicked the links? Or is everyone afraid they'll be added to the Knights Who Say 'Ni!' team then?

My primary role as a moderator is not to arbitrate technical merit, though of course I may hold such opinion if I choose. I didn't enter this thread for that, but to admonish Loxami for his incivility and language ... which is not appropriate per the guidelines for this forum. It is likely that roadrunner_gs is not aware of Loxami's posting history, so let's not be too harsh on the fellow.... :-)
But you do imply an important point .... the act of volunteering does not entrail a licence to incivility, bad language etc.... I quite happily admit that as a moderator I will not tolerate or be cowed by such a linkage ( let no one mistake my meaning here ). Now let's see if the hints are taken... :-)
Cheers, Mike.

Yes. I am complaining that the page is a bit to long to fit on screen.
The users where asked if they experienced problems after the update and the users answered only to see their reported problems are wiped from the table as fast as you could say "Ni!".

Are you an voluntary contributer of the project or an internal?
If the later i would appreciate your advice and follow it.

If I were the latter, I'd have a tag, like David does.
Although I do communicate with Walt Gribben and Bruce Allen through email, when necessary to debug, test or otherwise contribute into helping to make both BOINC and the Einstein science apps better, I am not attached to the Univesity of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I do crunch Einstein on a voluntary basis.
Yet, again, neither Bruce, nor Walt, nor Berndt, nor David write the changes to the Boinc server software. That's done by a couple of volunteer developers (3) for Boinc. What the developers here will do is read your complaints and if it's really something broken, they'll contact those developers and tell them about it.
Yet all these changes are tested out on at least two (alpha) projects before they are added to the public Boinc CVS. And as has been said, if projects want to stay in compliance with a new upcoming BOINC version, they'll have to add the new code.
No, extra links and all on the account page don't matter how your Boinc version actually works, but other changes in the CVS do.
It's just as with your Windows service packs, you get a whole load of patches in one package. It's not that you can choose which ones you want and which ones you don't. Omitting a patch may even break other parts of the code.
But at the Windows Service Packs i could decide myself whether to install them or not anyways. ;)
Let it be good for now and let someone focus on the broken validator, it is not funny i have to cut down network communication on my computers at home remote via preference sets because otherwise my workunits were broken.
Couldn't you tell that someone with your connections?

I emailed Bruce about it. It's 7:48am there though. I don't know when he's around or reads his email.
