Tried your instructions. When I place the pointer over 'update project' the display changes and my pointer is over 'attach to new project'.

You have found a thread that dates back to Feb 24 which was referring to version 4.19 behaviour. You don't mention what version you are running but please be aware that there were major changes in the GUI behaviour in 4.2x and later and this is probably why the instructions "don't seem to work" :).

Unless you have a very good reason to do otherwise, you should basically allow BOINC to update when it wants to automatically. It will do so in a timely manner and you really don't have to worry about it.

Is running out of work units a good reason? I have 29 units ready to report and only one unit ready to run left. I am using verson 4.25.

Something looks quite strange to me: you said 29 WU's ready to report. Looking to your results, you have only to report the results of 5 WU's. 1 of them passed already the deadline and 4 still needs to be crunched.

You should try to change your settings in order to return the results before deadline or change the way you are using your PC.

Not all of the work units are for Einstein. According to the log, all of the results have been uploaded. What I really need is more work units. I can wait for the credits.

OK, understand now.
First one thing: you have still some 4 WU's to return with deadline of 8,9,10 and 11 May. If you want to download more WU's be sure not to download too much as you will have more and more problems passing the deadline.

To be able to download more WU's you need to go to your general preferences and very probably set the "Connect to network about every xx days" to a higher value.
Start first with a setting of some 1 day, click on "update" in Boinc project tab, have a look how much WU's are downloaded and what are the deadline of the WU's. After that, you can still adapt once again the settings of "connect to ...".

FYI, as you still have some 4 WU's with a CPU time of some 11.5 hours, the server will very probably not let you download WU's with a setting of 1 day.

Something is wrong somewhere. All of these work units, except the one due on the eleventh, have been uploaded from my machine. I have a dial up connection and watched each upload and download as it occured. I have also tried to update using the instuctions at the begining of this thread. Would restarting my computer do anything useful?

Did you had a look in the tab "Messages" to see what happens when you try to do an "update". This tab can give you crucial information about what is going on when trying to contact the server.

First, The information I gave you in my last message was incorect. The work unit due on the 11th was the only one that had not started yet. The units for the 9th and 10th were still working. I uploaded the one for the 9th when I started this session.

The 'Messages' tab is how I watch while I am allowing BOINC network access. I received my last download at 3:14 PM on 3 May. I have gone back and checked. There are no indications that anything is wrong. My computer tells me I am connected to all four of the projects I am involved in.

Just to clearify.
To update a project using boinc v. 4.25 you need to go to the projects tab and leftclick on the project, then to the left of the projects a option to update will be visible, leftclick on it and then check the message tab, it should be saying something like this:

2005-05-08 02:45:53|Einstein@Home|Sending request to scheduler: http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/EinsteinAtHome_cgi/cgi
2005-05-08 02:45:54|Einstein@Home|Scheduler RPC to http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/EinsteinAtHome_cgi/cgi succeeded

If it did the results should have been reported and maybe some work will be downloaded.

I would reccomend upgrading

I would reccomend upgrading to BOINC 4.37. Versions 4.35 and 4.36 were giving me problems, but 4.37 seems to be resolving many of them.

Thanks, but it is not working although it has in the past.
