I am running only one project (Einstein@home).
In preferences Resource Share is set at 30% and If I understand TaskManager, the project is using 90%+. And when the project is running some of my programs are crashing or not working properly.
Any way to fix this. Any help greatly appreciated.

Am running Windows XP Home Edition with IE6 SP2 on an emachines T3624 w/ Celeron 2.66 GHz and 256 MB RAM.

OK: Resource share refers to the amount of time each separate project will get. So, if you are only running E@H, then you will run E@H all of the time. If you set 2 projects you can say "OK, project A you will get 30% of the crunch time, and project B you will get 70% of the crunch time."
BOINC is set up to run all of the time, using unused CPU cycles. However, it runs at low priority, so it should get out of the way fairly well. You might (and I don't know this for sure) be getting into trouble b/c of your amount of RAM. I have a similar speed computer, but I have 1 Gig of RAM and I've never seen a problem with my other programs slowing down.
If this continues to be a problem, set BOINC to run only when the computer is idle, and set the idle time to something like 5 or 10 seconds, so when you are pausing to think, BOINC will jump in and start crunching. When you hit a key or move the mouse, BOINC will pause.

If you are only running Einstein, then your 30% resource share is meaningless. Resource share determines how BOINC divides its time among whatever projects you have attached. (If Einstein is your only project, then it will get 100%.) BOINC runs all the time but at the lowest priority. It should never interfere with anything else your computer is doing. If you think there are problems with BOINC interfering with other operations, then we need some idea as to which programs are having problems and the symptoms you are seeing in order to respond.
EDIT: I see Kathryn has also responded with essentially the same comments as me.
EDIT2: I noticed that a few of your results have failed with Exit Code 1 (0x1) messages. The BOINC Wiki indicates that this could be caused by an out-of-date driver for your graphics card (read this). You should also read this thread and this thread. This issue is likely the key to the problems you are having.

Thanks folks for all your help. I just upgraded the graphics driver and all seems well now. Thanks Stick for the link to Intel drivers. If the problem returns I'll try emplementing the other suggestions til I get it right.

Glad to hear you are making progress! My guess is you will start getting the standard "graphics bug" errors - Exit Code -1073741819 (0xc0000005), if you continue to use the screensaver or "Show graphics" option. That's the problem I had with my Dell laptop (and Intel drivers). My laptop must be a little newer than yours though - cause I never got any "old driver" errors. BTW: I use the Beta app and it works great. Just remember that, if you do change to the Beta, you'll need to change back whenever the science app is released.

Now that you mention it, now when I click on Graphics nothing happens. But no problem as I can live it. And don't plan to use the Screensaver. But I saved a backup of the old graphics card driver just in case.
As I did for years with SETI@Home, I just intend to set it and foreget it except to make sure it keeps precessing the WU's.

Now all of a sudden the E@H Graphics is working. And the graphics acts up on some office programs when I first open them after the new installation, then the program flies right and even runs a bit faster.
Mabe the system is learning as it goes.

Sounds like maybe some registry issues. Did you restart Windows after upgrading the driver?
EDIT: Another thought - have you been installing Windows Updates regularly? If not, you may need to.

Restarted after upgrading. Just ran Registry Mechanic Pro.
All Critical Updates installed except "update for Internet Explorer for Window XP (KB905915)" wich I uninstalled yesterday as it was preventing most .gif's from loading on web pages. I read that this has happen to some others as well.
It seems everything is working great now.

I don't take any pleasure in saying "I told you so", but I see that you now have a couple of WU's with Exit Code -1073741819 (0xc0000005) errors. As I said earlier, the Beta app works great!
