Yeah, I know some stories like that, too... users ordering a gameserver and also FTP access then inputting the gameport into the FTP client and being surprised it doesn't work... or deleting default files then wondering everything crashes after a restart...
But best of all were my parents- nothing like home sweet home. My dad was getting all upset, telling me there was a hardware problem on their box... and it sure as hell looked like it, because every time you entered the "My Computer" thing the whole system froze (it was Windows XP, of course). But the hard disk seemed okay... Not having a clear idea what the problem could be, I made sure that the swap file got on another partition than the one that had only about 200 MB left... which was about time but didn't solve the problem. I was really confused, until, by a stroke of inspiration, I decided to check that old broken CD drive which no one had be using for months... and guess what, there was a CD in there. Of course every time the box tried to access that it crashed... You can imagine the look on my face about putting a CD in a broken drive when you KNOW it's broken, and has been for ages, and then complaining about a hardware problem. Well, at least we removed the thing afterwards, but talk about waste of time...
I have a friend who will still acknowledges you today, if you call him Switchy, all because of an incident, that he investigated for a complete working day, that occured in 1967.

I dread to think of where you were at there, Gary. :-)
I mean, you knowing that I'm a doctor and all that ... :-)
Oh, and the user in question is a doctor - so there you go... :-)
Cheers, Mike.
I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...
