Both of my machines will run

Both of my machines will run out of work soon (maybe by tomorrow). However, I am NOT concerned, because I run a second project on both machines. That really is the beauty of the BOINC software, and I suggest everyone make full use of it.

Therefore, while the guys at E@H are sorting out the server problems, my machines are still running. I will not suspend or detach E@H, and when the E@H servers come online fully, I will receive credit, and hopefully new S5R2 WU's.

Just my $0.02.

May many people follow your example. Every crunched work unit is of great value for science. In a while, everything will be running smoothly again. So there's no need to worry!

Happy crunching,
Bert

The last lines repeated itself for quite some time. But at last I got a new WU, from the look at it medium sized.

@Fuzzy Duck: Full ack for

@Fuzzy Duck: Full ack for that one from me. I'm also doing Malaria Control and, on the faster box, CPDN, and I think they're both worthwhile projects, so my boxes have something useful to do whatever happens. I'm glad that Einstein seems to be up and running again, though :-) since this is kinda my favorite project really.
@Ensor: If I understood Bernd correctly, they wanted to, but couldn't, because the people that were there at that time didn't have the necessary admin access. Annoying, but it happens, that's sth you can hardly help if you have a halfway safe account policy... you'll always need exactly the access you DON'T have one day ;-)

Thanks, I've seen his most recent postings about this now too.

I can well understand the problems they're having and appreciate how hard they are working. Although by trade I'm an assembly language programmer, I spent 14 truly ghastly months working in systems/network operations and user support a few years ago....NEVER AGAIN!

By the same token, this is why I brought up the subject of putting something on the main page several times. I know from bitter experience that 90%+ of users won't look beyond the main page for information when problems occur, if the information isn't in the first place they look, they won't bother searching any further. :-(

BTW All those stories you've heard about support technicians going to someone's office to fix a computer because it's broken, only to find it isn't plugged in ARE ALL TRUE!!!!! It's happened to me....damned users.... :-)

Chuckle!! :-)
Alas I'm the nominated 'IT guy' at our workplace, sigh...
Recently we upgraded somewhat and formed a domain etc..
I got a complaint from one of the users who couldn't understand how to start the computer. It was a wetware problem as you'd predict... all that was required was the entry of a password:

"you know the one I had especially printed clearly on a laminated card ( credit card size for the wallet ) next to your username, which I gave to you and looked you in the eye and then said 'use this next time you logon' and then you said 'yes Mike, I understand, I will do that' - you remember that one?... "

Arrrgh!

Cheers, Mike.

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...
