The strange thing I just

The strange thing I just happened to notice is that I have no open results in my account here, while at the same time 2 of them are still sitting in my BOINC, waiting to be reported. I checked the names in the results, and they seem to be the ones on top of the list, one of them even got credit.

Is there any explanation for this?
I had a different message btw. some times since yesterday:

Ford, it's a quote from his BOINC log file (click on the "Messages" tab in BOINC manager).

I take it you've bever looked at your own logs...? :-)

If something seems to be out of the ordinary, I'll usually look they first, but I'm not seeing anything thing about "project down for maintenance" even when moving my cursor over the message to see if there is anything additional to be read. Got no problem at all with waiting, but I don't think a couple of sentences posted to the message board or the Einstein status page, explaining the problem and giving an estimate of the downtime is asking for all that much.

What do you think?

That is also all i ask. I dont get annoyed by the servers going down. its just an unfortunate event, but not knowing a timeframe of how long it will be out for is annoying. Even if giving an accurate time is not possible, id be content with a guess.

Look at the line immediately

Message 59714 in response to message 59711

Look at the line immediately before the red "Project is down." text.

But I agree that some kind of update on the main page would be nice.

Read Bernd's post!

They have very few people and are busy trying to get S5R2 going, so they do not have time to update much, but they did update telling us that.

Agreed.. It would be nice to know if it will be in days or a weeks!

Seems to me that part of getting S5R2 going is to get S5R1 wrapped up.

Don't know if the project folks have said anything in the various threads, but a line or two on the main page would be nice.....

Like I said earlier in the thread, the announcement needs to be on the main page which is where the majority of users are going to look....most people don't check/search these message boards, even when there are problems!

I've read before that adding

I've read before that adding news to the main page's rss feed isn't as simple as typing a few sentences.

I'm not sure what goes into it, but it takes time.

Please give the project staff a break. They're doing the best they can. Every project has it's ups and downs. The servers are working double time right now and I'm sure the staff is up to their chins trying to keep the whole ship running.

I wasn't referring to the RSS feed, just the news section on main page itself - though if that is somehow tied to the RSS feed then it explains a lot.

With all due respect, please don't put words into my mouth! If you read my previous posts in these forums you'll see that I've had nothing but praise for the Einstein staff over the way they've been handling the recent problems (IMHO they've gone far beyond the call of duty).

ALL I'm saying is, that since many people only seem to check the main page and their account page, they're going to be in the dark about the current problems. In fact, several people I know, who have been crunching for BOINC projects for over a year, were completely oblivious to the presence of these message boards until I mentioned them to them recently. OK? :-)
