Gestern kam in Q-21 ein Bericht ueber einen perversen Professor an der Uni Hannover, einen gewissen "Herrn" Pohlmeier, der im Rahmen eines pseudowissenschaftlichen Projektes Rabenvoegel in Massen fangen und erschlagen laesst. Das abartige Schwein ist nebenbei auch Jaeger, was wohl Rueckschluesse auf die Motivation zulaesst.

Da es mehr als einen Prof. Pohlmeier gibt : Es handelt sich um Prof. Dr. Dr. Klaus Pohlmeier, der nebenbei auch Präsident der Landesjägerschaft Niedersachsen ist.

Well, one can always try to make things better.
I posted it here as I hoped to make some of the project technicians and scientists get involved and support the petition.
The Einstein project and the institute that has this Pohlmeyer guy must be quite close to eachother in Ruthe as Ruthe is really tiny. Maybe people from both institutes even know eachother and can discuss the theme, I'm quite sure that most people at the Tierärztliche Hochschule will not like what's going on there so it's good if they hear about the problem.
After I had cooled down a bit (when I started this thread I have been extremely upset), I sent an email to the Ministry of Science of Lower Saxony too but haven't received a reply so far.

I didn't find a translation. I'll try it in short :
They claim to do a study about ravens and raven-like birds and their influence on other birds that have their nests on the ground.
In order to proove that it's the ravens fault that the number of ground breeders decreases, they try to "clean" a complete area from those ravens, using the traps that you can see on the pictures. This type of traps is illegal in germany.
The kill all ravens they can catch with a club. They do not only catch ravens but other birds too like buzzards, hawks, seed craws ... including protected ones.
Real scientists tell about studies that show, that all ground breeder eggs have been stolen at night, ravens sleep at night so probably weazles and foxes ate the eggs. Those raven birds really do eat eggs too but that makes only about 3% of their nutrition. Grassland converted to agricultural areas has a big influence on the decreasing number of groundbreeders too.
The "professor" who leads the murderous study is the president of the hunters community of lower saxony - a fact, that might explain his intention better than what he calls "science".

Wenn man aus Hannover zum Detektor hinaus fährt, kann man u.U. bei gutem Wetter die Tierärztliche Hochschule (TAH) sehen (wenn man weiss, wo sie ist). Der Detektor selbst ist natürlich nicht in Ruthe, das wäre immer noch zu belebt, sondern an der äusseren Ecke eines Ackers, der der landwirschaftlichen Fakultät der Universität Hannover gehört (die natürlich auch nichts mit der TAH zu tun hat), und immer noch einige Kilometer entfernt. Mag sein, dass übermüdete Wissenschaftler beider Einrichtungen den selben Pizzaservice bevorzugen, aber das dürfte ungefähr die einzige Verbindung sein.

Is there a counterstatement or a neutral (in so far one can be neutral in this regard) somewhere available? I mean this sounds not only so cruel but also so pointless that it is hard to believe.
Men do a lot of vile things, and not only to nature. But even when it comes to terrorist attacks and bombings there is some reason why people do this. But this sounds like the work of a psychopath.
