We (finally) have a new 64Bit build of our starsphere graphics application. It took us quite some time, because we thought that this was a rather low priority. We're still fighting with the Windows build, but the OSX version is there in FGRP5 v. 1.09 and O2MD1 v. 2.08. (Note: the graphics app is the only change in these app versions).

Sorry, had to bump the version numbers due to a configuration error (graphics app not executable): FGRP5 v. 1.10 and O2MD1 v. 2.09.

Any news on the Windows app?

Any news on the Windows app?  The graphics build seems to cut out after a couple of starts.  I can get it back for a few times by resetting the project, but when I do, it causes all of the tasks in my computer to time out and then an error is generated.

The new screensaver graphics

The new screensaver graphics look fine on a 15" MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.11.6, but are dreadful on a 27" iMac running macOS 10.14.6.

In both cases, the screensaver view visibly "opens" instead of just appearing as other screensavers do.

On the MacBook Pro, the graphics fill the screen. On the iMac, there's a delay of several seconds, accompanied by soundings of the system "Funk" noise, then the view opens and the screen, but with a window bar showing along the top. The graphics themselves are horribly stretched past their resolution to fit the screen and move in jerks.

I don't spend any time watching screensaver graphics, but thought you might find the feedback useful.

Having been woken up several times during the night by the "Funk" noise sounding downstairs, and having eventually had to get up to mute the iMac's sound, I can add to the above that the sound occurs every time the screensaver switches to an Einstein@home task and that the screen never goes dark while EaH graphics are running.

Hi Bernd.

Thanks for the response. Sorry I didn't reply to your question yesterday. It looks as if you posted it just after my visit to the forum in the morning. The BOINC version on both of my computers is 7.16.11.

I'm glad you've been able to reproduce the problem.  :)

Howdy,

I'm hoping for a Linux (Ubuntu) configuration which I am running a 64bit distro of Ubuntu. Any chance that this new 64bit "StarSphere" build will be compatible for my notebooks running Ubuntu 20.10?

Hoping beyond hope!

Regards,

John
