It took us some time to fix the Mac OSX build, in particular the occasionally annoying system beep sounds, but it's done now. Versio 2.10 of the GW search and 2.08 of Linux is out. Any feedback from the Windows side?
No luck with the version of Windows I am running. I leave it on and most of the time it cycles between the two screens for the BOINC program, however, I have seen it rarely with the star globe running and it will go to the desktop for a while. I'd really like to see more of the star globe than the BOINC information.
Hm, that sounds like a config issue. Can you run the graphics manually via "Show Graphics" in the BOINC Manager? Also, when you say "rarely", does that mean you do see it occasionally?
Rarely means that I might see it twice in a period of weeks. I admit I am not in my office watching constantly, but I would say that I am monitoring my computer daily. Of course I am working on it at times as well, but when I have had something working for over a year, I get to witness cycles because I am monitoring, always, for problems. When a program that has been fairly periodic over the time I have been doing Einstein@home changes, it is a signal to me that something may not be "wrong" but is not the same as it has been over the past year. Usually, when the screen saver would come on, the first screen was the star globe and then it would cycle through BOINC status and on the third change it would go back to the star globe. Now I am not seeing this periodicity in the program. I would rather see the star globe than the status and I have attempted to control this with the BOINC program that comes up when I want to make changes in the screen saver. No matter how I put the controls on this, it makes no difference in the manner the screen saver cycles.
I just installed the latest version of BOINC on my Ubuntu 20.04 Linux system. The GUI starts but with an error message. I can't seem to determine how to install my screen shot into this post. So I will just write what the error message says.
BOINC Manager is not able to start a BOINC client. Please run the client and try again.
What does this mean? I don't understand how to run the client. Does this simply mean to restart the BOINC GUI?
Now, if I run BOINC in a terminal window I get a lot of information too much to retype here. Then when I start the BOINC client using the installed GUI version I get a different error message:
gui_rpc_auth.cfg. exists but can't be read. Check the file permissions or ask the system administration to add the user in the 'boinc' group.

Any help would be of great benefit to me and perhaps others.

Hi Bobby. This really sounds like a BOINC issue here since our screensaver does work when it gets launched by BOINC. Which "controls" are you referring to above? You can set the intervals how the BOINC screensaver switches between the different graphics (or disable them entirely) in its settings:
I suggest you give these a try if you haven't already. Also, launch the screensaver on purpose (depending on your OS) to facilitate investigating the issue when you have time.

The gui_rpc_auth.cfg file is not allowed to be blank now. You have to put in a password. And the permissions have to be made just right.
Try the instructions in the Optional Setup hints section.
