Last spring I was watching neutron star lectures from the Perimeter Institute site and learned of Einstein@Home. So I rescued some junk laptops from the recycling pile and put them to work. Earlier today they crunched through the one million mark :)
500 million? Very sweet! It's really cool to be able to support the project. And it was a lot of fun to attend the LIGO presentation in Seattle last month, too
I have a handful of low-end Nvidia PCIe cards and I'm keeping an eye out for any boxes in the recycling pile that might support more than one of them at a time, to add to my little collection of crunching computers.
