Since no one has commented I shall, that was a fine outage we had in fact one might call it an outrage.

Yes it was, I hope it was a 'normal' one as far as unplanned outages go, 'normal' meaning nothing lost except time and crunching.

Yes it was me :) and it is too! Reassuringly...

Thank you for the keyboard advice, Mikey and yours too, Mike. I found, by using my lungs' external aperture, the one I have on my face, that my eyes were able to absorb a good amount of debris *show everyone* which helped. I'm a bit banned from lifting anything heavier than a cup containing 250mls which is quite limiting because, despite having many years in which to do some research, I didn't once think to check how many mls were in a keyboard. If I had, I might've also upended it, and given it a good jiggling too, but I haven't.  I'm trying to be good you see :)

My antiviral software flips out every time I pop in here, too. Yes :) and it offers me an upgrade too, with a bill to accompany it and, I presume, a promise to stop the loud DING-DINGing that makes me leap out of my skin every time.

I did actually notice the out(r)age, like you did betreger, but didn't comment on it while I couldn't so I could now just in case I couldn't think of anything else to say instead - which appears to be the case now.

I felt another edit coming on. So I came back Yes, there has been one already but you don't need to concern yourselves with that one. Just this one...I forgot   to wish everyone a nice weekend. So, you know... do that

From at least now would be good...

:)

But who reads that sorta

But who reads that sorta piffle anyway?  Notices schmotices ... newsitems snoozeitems ... ya can't expect anyone to actually read that stuff, can ya?? :-).

And who cares that the work flow continued unabated?  Let's get all indignant and declare an outrage coz the really important chat stuff was totally cut off - can ya believe it?? :-).

Should we declare an outrage now??  Nah -- it's just uploads ... we can still chatter on ... the uploads can look after themselves later :-).

Cheers,
Gary.

..... it was outrageous ! :-)

Cheers, Mike.

( edit ) Alfie gets a bit excited, probably because Annie has returned ..... and err .... why can't you lift more than 250 mls ?

Didn't they also send out a 'notice' that showed up in the Boinc Manager? I think  I saw it there too but don't see it right now. The problem with that is that SOME projects, NOT this one, sends a 'notice' every time they go to the bathroom, not literally but you get the idea, and people tend to ignore them. I personally have multiple pc's and the same 'notice' shows up on EVERY pc attached to that project, that's a pain! If somehow they could set it so it only showed up on the most recent to connect pc to their project the 'notices' may not be ignored so much.

Besides it's easier to complain then be informed about such things...isn't it? :-))

IIRC that notice said the

IIRC that notice said the outage would be over at and gave a time three hours after it started.  Outrage lasted many many hours past the end time.  So it went into the best laid plans of mice and network engineers.  Hence an outrage.

Oh yes. I've just seen it. It was, yes :) And thinking on it now, I might have noticed a notice too, in BOINC manager, then forgot I had so I could remember something else afterwards.

And who cares that the work flow continued unabated?

I was happy to see that what I wanted to go up did, I must say :) and to see new work arrive in its place impressed me rather a lot - almost to the same levels an utter outrage would have ;) and Alfie has :) I didn't do any complicated time-maths then or um... now though

We have a cat that when he was elephant-girthed, liked to do that in the bath - usually about 4am. Not time-maths... spinning. Not everyone appreciated it was exercise-that-didn't-smash-things like I did though, you know during his madder, straight-ahead-no-matter-the-consequences moments. Nowadays, he mostly just gets overcome by affection until he can pin someone to something and go to sleep on them. In which case it's the someone he's chosen that makes a lot of noise.

( edit ) Alfie gets a bit excited, probably because Annie has returned .....

I do too, at coming across you lot again :)

and err .... why can't you lift more than 250 mls ?

I was spotted having a heart attack no one was suspecting would happen, because no one knew how much older my poor heart is than the rest of me :/  except perhaps my me (although I'd had to stop listening to her because she'd got us diagnosed with indigestion by a heart consultant and thrown out of A&E already a few days beforehand. It's good, because otherwise the row between my ambulance crew and the same A&E might not have started - and I most probably wouldn't be here to tell you about it - which I am as you can see :) Which reminds me - thank you Australia. <3 You're lending London a lovely, ambulance lady who knows just when to get all pugnacious and belligerent  :) and who did, and I'm so very grateful <3 :)

It's nearly new years eve here now. I'll be back to do the wishing-everyone-good-things a little bit later!

Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.
