Here in Massachusetts the

Here in Massachusetts the rivers are all running very high. If we get a snowy winter then Spring is going to bring a lot of flooding. Not unusual but this amount of water late in the year is not normal.

It's 38 degrees Celsius & there's a hot northerly blowing briskly. So it is bushfire time. Sigh.

Cheers, Mike.

One of my wifes aunts live in California, not in the current fire zones, but has the brush right up next to her home and when we asked her about clearing it away she said 'but it's so ugly when it's all bare, NO I'm not doing that!'. We just shook our heads and thought that when the fire comes her way she too will be a statistic. She is one of the stereotypical California thinkers with the laize fare(sp) attitude.

Oh did you know that I am now winning!!

After the great Los Alamos

After the great Los Alamos fire a couple of decades ago there were intriguing overhead photography shots which showed streets on which some houses burned down to the chimney and others were intact, mostly because of differences in fuel density near the house (trees, shrubs, brush). It really does make a difference.
