I refuse to eat lobster on

I refuse to eat lobster on principle because I know how it is cooked. Selling live crabs comes a close second. 2015 may well become the year I officially go vegetarian. I have been thinking about it for a couple of years now.

Waiting for Godot & salvation :-)

Why do doctors have to practice?

Any meat we eat has to be killed unless you want to eat it while they are still wiggling like on those 'survivor' shows. Walking up to a cow walking around in a field and cutting off a steak doesn't seem very humane to me. As for nuts, berries and grains they too are 'alive' when we eat them. And at least according to the Physicists EVERYTHING is still 'alive' as long as you consider that it's atoms are still moving around a bit. That desk you are leaning on has atoms that 'resist' being moved, therefore they must still be 'alive' in order to be able to react to your leaning on it.

I can just imagine that freshly picked tomato 'screaming' NOOOOO as we cut into it to make slices for our sandwiches. Good thing we can't hear that!!! :-)

My m-i-l was a mostly vegetarian for most of her life and did just fine, you just have to watch your food combinations to get the right mix of chemicals, ie red beans and rice give us the same stuff as a nice steak. The texture is obviously different though.

Physicists? As Dr. McCoy said "It's life Jim, but not as we know it".

Are you for real? Oh sorry Mr. Strawberry, made your will? Shall I in future walk down a pavement listening to the paving stones going ouch, ouch, ouch?

"Are you going to tell me," said Arthur, "that I shouldn't have a green salad?"

"Well," said the animal, "I know many vegetables that are very clear on that point. Which is why it was eventually decided to cut through the whole tangled problem and breed an animal that actually wanted to be eaten and was capable of saying so clearly and distinctly. And here I am."

It managed a very slight bow.

"Glass of water please," said Arthur.

"Look," said Zaphod, "we want to eat. We don't want to make a meal of the issues."

Hmmmm. Big secret. I wasn't born, I was manufactured. No disrespect for my parents but I was picked up from 'the hospital' after they dropped the disk in the previous week. We were way ahead of our time in Pakenham in 1960 ! :-)

Cheers, Mike.

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...
