I have two accounts by mistake and want to know if there is a way to merge them. They have two seperate email addresses. I didn't realize I signed up for E@H under both email addresses and all my other project work is a different email address than my E@H work. Not a huge deal but I'd like all my work to roll up under one CPID.
Thanks!!

This question has been asked a number of times - you are not the first to make that mistake. ;)
I'm afraid the answer is always the same - it can't be done. :(
Be lucky,
Neil

Of course it can be done!
You have to have exactly he same email-adress on all your projects, and have a connection client - server on all puters for at least two projects, so that the puter lets the server know: 'hello, it's the same here. Go, tell the other puters'
BTW:
A good manual for Boinc is Paul D. Bucks BOINC Powered Projects Documentation and his FAQ therein.

OK, the official answer from the admins is that it can't be done. ;) I've never tried it. I do know you can fool the system when merging hosts - I did that only yesterday for the umpteenth time. ;)
So maybe it would work with accounts too. :)

Hello Neil,
I think we are talking about different things:
A merger of to hosts on one account, that are not the same, even if just virtually, is not possible.
A 'merger' of two accounts in different projects on the stat-pages is possible the way I described it.
Am I right?

Ah, but it is. I've done it many times. Yesterday it was the same physical (dual-boot) machine but Windows and Linux. I have to keep doing that one because it creates a new host everytime I boot Windows - which is less and less often these days. In the past, I have merged physically different machines. :)

Like I said, I am willing to believe it is possible if I can merge different hosts. ;)

Perhaps you could enlighten us on how you do it.
I have two entries for one computer that I can't merge. The second was created when I upgraded from 4.13 to 4.19 and the CPU type changed. When I try to merge them using the 'merge this host' button, it doesn't show any available hosts to merge with...
1) AuthenticAMD AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+
2) AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+ Pentium
Any help would be appreciated.

Merge host
Sometimes BOINC assigns separate identities to the same computer by mistake. You can correct this by merging old identities with the newest one.
Check the computers that are the same as rnc1 (created 11 Feb 2005 21:28:47 UTC):
[one or more hosts to be merged should be listed here, but are not]

Unselect all

First, I should say I haven't had to cope with that particular situation as, when I upgraded, no new hosts were created. Secondly, before you do anything else, stop boinc and back everything up. ;)
Now, my first thought is to temporarily go back to 4.13 and see if that will fool it. Downgrading often results in lost WUs - that's why I said back everything up. Even then there are no guarantees and anything you do is at your own risk. ;)
Another possibility is to edit your client_state.xml and substitute your old host id for the current one.
Basically, the trick in merging is to get the profiles looking sufficiently similar to make the system believe they are one.

Everyone is talking about a variety of different situations here and some you can merge, some you can't. (I think)
If anyone can figure out how to merge two accounts, not hosts, but two seperate accounts each with a different email address associated with them then I'm all ears. Big ears to. Ross Perot Ears. Big Bugs Bunny Ears.
But I don't think you can...
Thanks!

Check out the fourth post again. ;)
