i did my best but i didn´t find any cpdn stuff. the short term and long term debts i´ve found, but they both were and the std or ltd abbreviations i didn´t find...i could copy the hole thing for you, if this makes sense.
in the boinc folder there is also an "client_state_prev.xml". Normal?
maybe you should know that i uninstalled and deleted the boinc-cpdn-project and all of its folders a few weeks ago...

Will you please do this for me. In your BOINC folder you will find a file called "client_state.xml". Can you carefully open it with something like Windows notepad and look for the tags. You should certainly have one with Einstein stuff under it and you also may have one for CPDN. I want you to look for any "debt" values. In your version you should have both short term and long term debts. They may be abbreviated STD and LTD, I'm not familiar with your version. I'd like you to report any values you find anywhere in the file and also report what tag you found them under. When you finish just close the file without changing it in any way. Thanks.
ok, stick, i really have an firewall (zonealarm) but it worked until now even with the firewall...so i don´t know if it is really the problem. besides i don´t know how to open or close any ports... but there is s.th. else: i changed a few days before my browser from opera to firefox. maybe this is the problem?
at the moment it looks like this when i pull the update button:
>>14.10.2005 10:07:09||request_reschedule_cpus: project op
14.10.2005 10:07:11|Einstein@Home|Sending scheduler request to http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/EinsteinAtHome_cgi/cgi
14.10.2005 10:07:11|Einstein@Home|Requesting 0 seconds of work, returning 0 results
14.10.2005 10:07:12|Einstein@Home|Scheduler request to http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/EinsteinAtHome_cgi/cgi succeeded
14.10.2005 11:03:08||Insufficient work; requesting more
14.10.2005 12:03:09||Insufficient work; requesting more>>
i don´t know...
bye, soho
Soho,
I don't think it's the firewall either - since your "messages" indicate that BOINC is able to communicate with the Einstein server. Michael and I had good intentions when we were discussing the firewall possibility. We were just trying to eliminate one of the frequent problems users encounter. Now that you have gotten Gary's attention, I am sure you will get to the "bottom of this" soon. Anyone who has read these boards, knows that he is very good at helping resolve such problems.

Thanks, you've done very well. I just wanted to eliminate the possibility that EAH might have had a negative debt situation which might have been preventing it from getting new work. This is probably the most common reason why you might be getting the message that says:-

14.10.2005 10:07:11|Einstein@Home|Requesting 0 seconds of work, returning 0 results
However all appears normal and there are no tags for other projects to confuse the issue. The file client_state_prev.xml is a backup copy and is quite normal.
The next thing I'd like you to do is look carefully at all the settings in BOINC Manager window to make sure there are no settings preventing new work. Try cycling settings back and forth to see the changes. Look particularly at network settings and settings that might suspend new work. Report back anything you are not absolutely sure about.
Once you've done that can you go to the website and view your general prefs and report the values under "Processor usage", "Disk & memory usage" and "Network usage". Please report back here the values you see, thanks.
I'm not going to be around when you reply so others may look at you settings to see if anything looks amiss. If settings are OK then the next step is to stop BOINC and use windows to uninstall it. Then do a fresh install with a freshly snagged copy of 4.45 (or even 4.72 for that matter as it has some bugfixes over 4.45). The fresh install should pick up your settings and should immediately get new work without losing any of your previous settings or stats.

Either way, good luck!!
I am not receiving any work. But then I have just upgraded to v5 so not sure if it's from the upgrade or where.

As you are attached to E@H and S@H, this could come from the Long Term Debt that doesn't allow downloading new WU's for E@H.
Or, if your are not receiving work from either, it could be something as simple as needing to re-configure your firewall for the new BOINC (i.e. the old BOINC's authorization to communicate with the internet may not have carried forward to the new BOINC program).
hello, i losed my interest to solve this problem, and so i just finished all and uninstalled boinc...then i reinstalled it, reattached to the E@H-project, and now it lookes like its all working now normal!
so thanks to all who helped me...

Soho,
Glad you came back! But, are you sure everything is working OK? Your results page doesn't show that you have any work "In progress" yet.
Stick
EDIT: I just checked back again and now you have two hosts listed - with the new one showing an "In progress" unit - I guess things are working OK after all.
I noticed that your Linux box downloaded 4 units today - so whatever you did had some effect. However, they all failed immediately, again, just like the others (i.e. the exact same messages/exit codes).

I just checked your Linux box results again. And, it looks like it's crunching OK. Saw that you have one "success" and a couple "in progress".
