Although I enjoyed your last exchange on this thread (as I always enjoy your posts), I think it may have diverted attention from the problem that Bookingfax is having (which I somewhat lamely responded to). I think he is a relatively new user and (given his team affiliation) he may not be as fluent in English as we are. Anyway, my purpose in posting here is to raise his issue back to the top of the thread and invite you two ask Bookingfax any questions that I may have overlooked.

In addition to the things Ageless noted, it occurred to me that you may want to check to see if your BOINC is now attached to the projects other than climateprediction. It seems that you have not done any Einstein WUs for a long time - is it possible that something catastrophic has happened since then, requiring resetting or re-installation of Boinc? What are your project share settings?

Soho,
More than likely, what you are experiencing is not "an einstein problem (server???)..." but, rather, a feature of BOINC. If you are running several projects, you may not always have work for every project. BOINC is designed to balance the time it allocates to each project over the long run (according to your "percent time" preferences). However, over the short run, some imbalances inevitably occur. For example, if an Einstein unit deadline is approaching and your normal resource share does not give enough time to finish it, BOINC will "borrow" time from another project in order to meet the deadline. Then, when it finishes the Einstein unit, BOINC will "pay back" the other project for the time it "borrowed". While, the "pay back" is happening, BOINC may not ask Einstein for any new work. This is probably what is happening in your case.

No, I don't think it's normal. And, quite frankly I'm stumped. That's why I pointed you to the other thread. One of the last suggestions there was to do a reinstall of BOINC using the "Repair" option. It seemed to work for that problem - but, it's really just "a shot in the dark" from me (although, I don't think it would hurt to try). As far as Michael's firewall question goes, I had dismissed the idea, because you seem to be communicating. But, it may be worth looking into anyway. I know BOINC uses some ports in addition to the standard port 80. If it's the firewall, it might be hanging one of the other ports. I don't if I can offer any more help, but our posts seem to have attracted some attention. I know Michael has been very helpful in other situations - so I will leave you in his very capable hands.
