I just reselected and it

I just reselected and it seems to be fine. But paranoia follows a full purge.

I will re-select in the morning, so if it fails I can settle in to the remove/purge cycle with a clear head.

I just looked. It was throwing computation errors (on my Linux box) so I did do a global uninstall everything with Nvidia in it from my command line , rebooted, installed 4.70 from Ubuntu update gui, rebooted and processing again.

Good, keep us posted as to whether it continues to work or not.

You might get slightly faster

You might get slightly faster GPU crunching if you make two more CPU threads available.

This presumes you have 2-4 already "free". And add two more. I decreased my WCG by two.

GPU processing went from 2m3-5s to 1m58s... On my gtx 3080 ti box.

Interesting. Ian&SteveC.,

Interesting.

Ian&SteveC., was talking about how the current GPU tasks were not very effecient.

So you could run more than one task on the Nvidia gpus and pickup production.

Looks like this applies to Windows too.

a quick google search shows that VirtualBox does not support GPU passthrough. So it's not going to work.

what is the host OS? and what is the guest OS?

what is the reason for wanting to run BOINC inside a virtual machine? why not just run Linux as the host OS and crunch natively?

My rig is running Win 11. But

My rig is running Win 11. But as of late Im getting random hard crash from BOINC. Ive tried uninstallinc BOINC and no crash. Reinstall and it crashes every half hour at least. Ran great for 6 months. When I first got the rig it would crash with BOINC if I used a certain temp monitor. Changed that and it was OK. Also, its never played well with BOINC screen saver. It randomly decides if its going to work, then acts like I hit a key by itself.

The axiom of "if I poke this

The axiom of "if I poke this . . . it hurts" has bearing.  Don't poke it. Why do you need a screensaver in this day and age of LCD screens?

Just have the monitor blank after x minutes of inactivity.
