From this morning the new works that I have received have a deadline of 14 days instead of the 7 days like up to now. It is an error or starting from now the deadline it is of 14 days.

14 days deadline
)
As far as I can tell, the deadline can be either 7 or 14 days depending on the size of the package to process and the speed of your machine. My machines are slow, and my connect intervals short - therefore I receive small packets to process and have a 7 day period to complete.
If I've lived this long - I gotta be that old!

The deadline is 7 days. As far as I'm aware there are no 14 day deadline work units around. I've received a number of work units recently and they all have a 7 day deadline. I imagine they would announce this sort of change on the website before they implemented it. It would be a big deal for a lot of people.
I've had a look at some of the computers of the original poster and can only see 7 day deadlines. Care to give us a CPUID?
Cheers,
Gary.

I'm starting to make a new set of S4 workunits. I am now confident that our database can handle the strain, so these new WU have a 2-week deadline.

Interesting news!! Your timing is very good as I imagine there are a number of Seti diehards who have stayed away from EAH because of what they see as an unattractive option. Now with the validation difficulties at Seti, it is very attractive with the longer deadline for these people to consider shifting resources from Seti to EAH.

Gary.

Any chance of making 1 week/2 week an option on Einstein@Home preferences?

I'm better able to manage my RAC with the tighter deadlines.

I think he is suggesting that tighter deadlines force people to submit more promptly and he will get his credit faster and his RAC will climb more quickly.
The power of the RAC never ceases to amaze me :).
I'm an engineer so I'm totally clueless in the social sciences area but the ability of a seemingly useless number to mesmerise and coerce people into the relentless pursuit of ever greater crunching power must be a fertile field for the odd doctoral thesis or two. I put myself into that wierdo category too but at least I can say that I'm genuinely interested in and wanting to support the pursuit of scientific discovery. :).

Gary.

Well that is kind of what I figured, but the way he said it, made it sound like he could personally manage his own credits in such a way that would be better if he had a 7 day limit as opposed to a 14 day limit. The only thing I don't get, is that the 14 day limit will end up evenly affecting everyone, so his RAC should stay relatively the same.
Heh, and for all I know, maybe the RAC accounts for a 7 day deadline differently than it does a 14 day deadline. ;)
