Hello All!
I've started to receive this message over the past little while on one of my machines with an older CUDA:
12/23/2009 7:44:30 AM Einstein@Home Requesting new tasks for GPU
12/23/2009 7:44:40 AM Einstein@Home Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
12/23/2009 7:44:40 AM Einstein@Home Message from server: No work sent
12/23/2009 7:44:40 AM Einstein@Home Message from server: (your BOINC client is old - please install current version)
I currently run 6.6.38 which is the highest available for my CUDA driver (you need a version of the driver that is not supported on my device to go to the 6.10.X version).
I have other non-CUDA machines that are receiving work units fine.
Is there something that I can do to allow this box to process E@H without the CUDA? Or am I going to have to detach from E@H on this box and find something else for the CPU to do?
Thanks for your response!

Hi,
go to the e@h pref's page and add separate preferences for e.g. work. Deselect "Use NVIDIA GPU if present".
Now go to your hosts page and assign the computer in question to the new location, e.g. work.
Wait for the next scheduler request or hit update in BOINC manager.

Thanks for the advice!
I followed your suggestions and saw the location for the machine in question change it's location to "work" when I did an update but it still gave the same client version error.
On a whim I restarted the BOINC service and confirmed that the E@H location is now work - and it is. Ran another update and it came back with the client version error.
I'm going to wait a bit before forcing an update again just in case there is a delay in the settings change and when they take place.
Thanks again!
Mike

From what you have said should happen and what I'm seeing it looks like my client is ignoring the settings from the file. Is there a way to "reset"?

can you unhide your computers temporarily? So we can have a look at the scheduler logs (or give us your computer id).

RE: First thing I did (I

I think that's the 'problem', since you are using 6.6.38.
However, I think it isn't a problem at all, just a nuisance in the logs. As you can see from the server logs, your host currently doesn't need any CPU tasks from Einstein (debt to other projects?). So, you only need to be patient and ignore the "your BOINC client is old" messages.

RE: (debt to other

Hmm... did a little looking on this and my Scheduling Priority for E@H is 0 with a work fetch priority of -543421.26. The other projects have a higher (smaller negative number) for the work fetch.
Based on what you said I should start to receive CPU jobs for E@H as soon as the balance between the projects has been equilized again?
Thanks for the input!
Mike
