I just heard from an impeccable source something that I really never knew before, and which I find hilarious.
In the UK there is a fringe political outfit known as - wait for it - "The Monster Raving Loony Party", I kid you not! It was started up by Pop star Screaming Lord Such in Epsom in 1983. They field candidates in all General Elections, but as they all regualrly lose their £500 deposits, where does their funding come from?
Well, it turns out that particularly in America and Canada, and other countries, it is considered as very much an in-joke to play on your pals, to sign them up for membership of the party at $10 a go. All these thousands of $10 mount up which pays for the lost deposits.
Yep, you couldn't make it up, but they do :-))
Waiting for Godot & salvation :-)

A few years ago, we had a guy run for President in the Rent's Too Damn High Party. His entire platform was "the rent's too damn high."

I'm a fan of Vermin Supreme myself. He's run for president several times, and his platform includes compulsory dental hygiene, zombie apocalypse awareness, and time travel research. He promised every citizen a free pony, wears a rain boot as a hat, donated a kidney to his mother, and glitter-bombed Randall Terry.
We have the Australian Sex
)
We have the Australian Sex Party, more or less agglomerating SJW stuff the mainstream idiots won't touch. Promotes the fringe benefits of 'anarchy', free money etc. Most 'anarchists' really want structure, but only their kind of structure. True anarchy is where eg. someone just comes up and kills you : sucks to be dead, too bad so sad, or get a weapon. The other trick is to claim equality but indeed achieve preference. They do actually make this up though & have to pinch members from the Melbourne Anarchist Club ( who are surprisingly organised ). There are many others though, all suffering from the usual basic human delusions : paranoia, relevance and cleverness. But it is important that they speak it out, rather than act it out.
Cheers, Mike.

Most of you will remember the Seti WOW! event of last year, hosted by Seti Germany. When it ended they left the chat board open. Some guy is still there talking to himself every day since last August!!

Sounds like they picked the name just to attract attention.

Certainly all the major, and almost all the minor parties have names either contrary, or irrelevant, to their political outlooks or policy history. They are effectively just like washing powder brands. Or any other commercial product. There's a couple like the Australian Motoring Enthusiast Party who sort of roughly match title to intent. But even they get around any close inspection difficulty by ".... it is not necessary for us to have our own set of policies ....". However their vague 'core value' pronouncements are so arbitrary/indistinct as to neither attract nor repel ! Their only elected representative, ever, is best summarised as "short-lived & accidental", a product of our mathematically quirky preferential voting system. He accurately relates his own experience thus : "The one thing you can guarantee in politics is everybody lies" ... :-)
Cheers, Mike.

Far more than even a pig's breakfast would, yes... still! We could always just lock them in and try taking over ourselves. I've always thought I could make quite an impact as Minister for Sport, but judging from my other half's view of that, he wouldn't vote for me so *sigh* a benevolent dictatorship might be my best way forward on that...
Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.
