W/U processing time increase

This morning I downloaded about 21 work units for BRP3. As I recall these W/Us normally took about 35 minutes to process. Today they are taking between 48 & 50 minutes. That's a rather huge increase in processing time. Has more data been put into each W/U or has something else (software wise) been changed to cause this increase in processing time? OR, did my BIOS update yesterday slow my machine down in some way? The last BRP3 data I processed appears to have been on Feb. 2.

My machine is an:
AMD FX-6100 running @ 4,140 MHz
MSI GTX460N video card running @ 801 MHz
8GB of PC3-1866 Corsair Vengeance memory
The rest is pretty much normal "stuff"

W/U processing time increase

I jumped the gun with my question. After I posted it I fired up CPU-Z and noticed my machine was running at 1,400 MHz. The really got my attention. So I went into my BIOS and discovered the BIOS update last night had reset all my custom settings back to default. Yesterday, I probably entered BIOS during the restart process of the BIOS update. That is a NO-NO that I just plain forgot! Shame on me!! Anyway, at that time my custom settings were still all in tact so I let the process continue. Well, it appears the BIOS settings were all reset to their default AFTER I returned control to the BIOS update process and I didn't think to pursue it any further. Now I have reinstalled my custom settings and everything appears to be back to normal. The last W/U I just turned in was 35m 24s. That's about right as I remember.

Here's something I've discovered for FX (Bully) owners who want to go faster but don't know much about overclocking: In BIOS turn on the Overclocking Genie and give the machine something to do that keeps it busy full time. Then use CPU-Z to watch where OC Genie sets the FSB & Clock Multiplier at its maximum (mine were 19.5 X 200 MHz yielding 3,900 MHz). Remember those numbers. Go into BIOS and TURN OFF OC Genie, the Turbo Technology AND the Power Saving "feature". That Power Saving "feature" will set your CPU Clock Multiplier down to as lower as 4X when it thinks it can get away with it giving your machine an effective 800 MHz (4 X 200 MHz) on any or all cores. Then it has to spool back up when it thinks it needs to but it may not go back to full power. I watched that happen for some time before I decided to disable it all the OC features and the Power Saving "feature". Then I set my BIOS up reflecting the OC Genie settings and began increasing them slowly until I noticed the machine would lock up once or twice a day. From there I slowly backed the settings down until the machine no longer locks up, which happens to be @ 4,140 MHZ (20 X 207 MHz FSB). I have not touched any of the voltage settings. They are all set in BIOS to "Auto". However, because I have set my FSB speed up from 200 MHz to 207 MHz, several other settings have also been increased because they are set to "Auto" and cue off the FSB: HyperTransport is now over 5,300 instead of a stock 5,200 and memory is now 1,933 MHz instead of 1,866 MHz. So buy good memory. Mine is Corsair Vengeance PC3-1866 but if I had it to do again with what I've learned I would go with PC3-2000 memory so I wouldn't have to be concerned about it with the overclocking. I am also running on air cooling. The main reason I chose a FX-6100 instead of the FX-8150 is that it is a 95w Thermal Design Package while the FX-8150 is a 125w TDP. I had an AMD 6000+ which was a 125W TDP and it ran HOT! I had to water cool it to feel comfortable. So I replaced it with a Phenom II 730 3-Core which was a 95w TDP. Much better! Now I am using the AMD 6000+ OEM heatpipe cooler on this FX-6100. At this moment I am running 4 Milkway@Home W/Us, one on the GPU and 3 on CPUs. The temp is sitting at 114F. Normally, if I am only running a single GPU W/U of any kind but no CPU W/Us, just surfing the internet or looking at e-mail the temp will set at 96 - 98F. I like that a lot!

Sorry I raised the alarm early. It was all my problem and I should have checked further before writing my earlier post.
