This problem is particular to Einstein@home. Seti@home suspends as soon as I move the mouse. Launching a 3D game with CUDA in use results in terrible performance and sometimes freeze/crash.
I can quit the work units in Task Manager but I wonder if this could corrupt the work units and/or BOINC?
I have checked my settings in the standard edition of BOINC Manager. CPU and CUDA are set to suspend when computer is in use. My Einstein@home preferences are set to run CUDA applications when available.
Basicaly my system is:
CPU: i7-860
GPU: nVidea GTX260 (2) in SLI
Memory: 16GB
PSU: 950 watts/1080 peak watts
System: Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
Firewall/Antivirus: Norton Security Suite

Work Units in CUDA do not Suspend when Computer is in use

Another thing is that if you look at the Einstein@home CUDA work units under Tasks in the BOINC Manager, there will be one running per GPU. They will all, including the active ones, say "Suspended - computer in use" but the active ones will still be ticking away and my sytem temperature monitor, SpeedFan will show GPU temperatures of 170-180F.
I wish one of the Moderators would read and respond to my posts.

Mods are really only participants like yourself. Lots of participants would have already read your posts. If any had a solution, do you think they would have failed to give it to you? I have one machine only with a CUDA capable GPU and it runs all the time. It does nothing else but BOINC so I have no need to have it suspend itself. I don't have easy access to it so I can't easily test.
I believe the settings work as intended so if they are not working for you, logic says that it is probably something wrong with how you have configured your preferences. Are you setting them globally or locally? If globally, which project is your 'master' for preference changes? Is it possible that you may have set local prefs which are overriding your global settings?
Cheers,
Gary.
RE: I believe the settings

Thank you Gary for your reply. I am participating in Einstein, Seti, Rossetta, and Enigma. I don't know which one would be my "master" project. Seti was the first one I began participating in, before there was BOINC. Resource Share is 100/100/100/25% respectively. Of them only Einstein and Seti utilize the GPUs. Global setting are the same accross the board except GPU settings are only for Einstein and Seti and they are both set to: "Suspend GPU when computer in use? Yes."
My relevant local settings are as follows:
Processor Usage
Computing Allowed:
While Computer in Use (unchecked)
Use GPU while computer is in use (unchecked)
Only after processor has been idle 5 minutes
While processor usage less than 25%
Other Options:
use at most 100% of processors
Use at most 70% CPU time
Disk and Memory Usage
Memory Usage:
Use at most 10% when computer in use
Use at most 20% when computer is idle (there is 16GB of system RAM)
Leave applications in memory when suspended (unchecked)
I don't see where I could have misconfigured the project settings. My computer is equipped with a pair of Nvidea GTX-260s in SLI. Like I say Seti suspends from the GPUs without a hitch. Einstein is running on the GPUs as I type this. There are no CUDA settings in the Nvidea control panel. Could Einstein have a problem in its code to suspend from my type video card or my card in SLI or from suspending from an SLI situation in general?
