Hi all,
for a few days (since Sept 25 to be precise) I keep getting the following error message:

failed to rename xfer history file: Error 183

No work units are transferred any more. I even tried to de-install / re-install the latest BOINC client (Version 7.0.28 - WinXP 32Bit) but to no avail.
Search in this forum as well as Google search returned nothing. Has anybody else experienced the problem ? And overcome it ?
Thanks for any helpfukl hint.
Aldor

[WinXP SP3] - failed to rename xfer history file: Error 183

I have no experience with this problem, but the xfer history file(s) should be located in the BOINC data directory (which might be hidden by windows) or beneath, in the project directories.

I think (one of) those files might be corrupted or in use by another process than BOINC (AV perhaps?).

Gruß,
Gundolf

I think you set a quota of

I think you set a quota of bandwidth that BOINC can use on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. That is what the 'xfer history file' is for. Uninstalling/reinstalling BOINC won't fix this problem, as doing so won't delete anything from the data directory.

You can try changing the daily transfer quota, depending on where you set it in the first place, through the web preferences or the local advanced preferences.

Thanks, Ageless, I did not

Thanks, Ageless,
I did not know that I could set a bandwidth quota; So I changed the settings in

Tools -> Computing Preferences... -> network usage

and set those limits to 0.0 for the bandwidth usage - then restarted the client; and Lo and Behold! the upload of my completed work units started immediately.

Again thanks,
Aldor.
