I only downloaded Einstein a couple of days ago and so far have not managed to report a succesful result. The following (or similar) messages are appearing in the message list:

Why do I keep getting error messages?
)
See this thread for some pointers.
If it's truly only (0xc0000005) errors that you get, try to run without BOINC/Einstein as your screen saver. (Set Windows screen saver to None, or let it go to a 2-D screen saver or blank screen).
You can also try to update your graphics card's drivers and DirectX version.
If it still happens after that, consider running without the screen saver. Einstein will then also crunch faster. (don't expect miracles and think it'll shave hours off though. ;-))

Then keep an eye on this thread. You may be running into the same bug that person is. And the developers will want to know of other cases.

Your PC is not perhaps overclocked or otherwise showing signs of instability ? Do you run other BOINC projects successfully? The error indicates that there is a fundamental problem in the numerical computations.

This is sad.
Other than trying the beta app from here I have no real clue what to do about this.
The input data your PC is crunching on is verified by BOINC with the help of checksums, so it's quite impossible that the files are corrupted during download or afterwards. Many of the results have failed on your "standard" wingman's PC as well, but apparently for a different reason (a DLL loading problem). Many of the tasks that crashed on your PC have completed successfully on other Windows machines, so it's not a simple kind of error in the input files either. This is really one of the more mysterious issues.

Looking in the Results file, it appears that I have now managed ONE successful result, but all the rest appear to have failed.
If I try the Beta app., can I easily go back to the "live" app. if necessary?
RE: Looking in the Results
)
Yes, all you need to do is delete the app_info.xml file that comes with the beta app. You might loose the result you are currently crunching, so this is best done after finishing a result...but if we get this far you probably don't want to go back :-).
But before doing that, you will want to report the finished result: simply press the update button in the BOINC manager GUI once.
