To me, the whole vista of the night sky never ceases to amaze me.

....but if I had to pick, it would be Gemini...

..because folk often say I talk a lot of Pollux, at least I think that's what they said.

It isn't a constellation,

It isn't a constellation, actually, but my favorite celestial sight is the Pleiades star cluster in Taurus. Through binoculars it is impressive enough; through an 8-inch telescope it mesmerizes me. :-)

Same here. Strange we should both say so. I have been interested in this since the 3rd or 4th grade when we were assigned the task of recreating constellations by punching holes in the bottom of a tin can with the correct pattern and hole size and then to be able to shine a light through it to project the pattern on a wall. By the way, a GREAT project for your kids, or other the young'uns who are about, to do with you.

Everyone else chose the Big or Little Dipper or Orion or Scorpio - somehow I chose Pleiades. Cool info on this and other clusters here.

Maybe this is why I've almost always driven Subarus?

The Southern Cross! It's on

The Southern Cross!
It's on our flag, it has the second nearest star ( Proxima Centauri ), and with a bit of pracice you can use it as a compass!
Cheers, Mike.
