Maybe it would be more helpful to work out why the link didn't work for you and then perhaps (since you are obviously following the thread quite closely) simply provide a link to Bernd's initial message where he announced the switch to the new work. That would be much better than just telling someone (simply trying to help) that they "might be irritating".
My guess is that since the default 'messages per page' setting is 20 and that you can change the default if you wish, perhaps you have changed yours to something larger and therefore a value of 23 is beyond your actual number of pages. In that case going to the start of the thread (or perhaps the end) would seem to be the best option for the forum software to take.
For the benefit of the OP, just go to Bernd's announcement link above and read the discussion from there. You will then know as much as any other participant about the 'state of play' with this new run.

FWIW... I have my forums postings set to show the NEWEST post 1st, not the last - which is the default.
If SFV wanted to, he could have gone to the bottom of the page and selected the 1st (or newest) page to read.

In case somebody asks "Where do I set my preferences to read the latest forums first?" Look here:
Main Account Page >> Preferences >> Community >> Forum Settings..... and select "Newest Post First", just above the "Signature:" box.
I hope you don't take my response as a "harsh response". I was primarily responding to Gary, but also to you since I didn't know if you knew or not how to change your preferences to read the posts.

Of course I have the default set to show the posts "newest first".

Up to now I have followed many links and they all positioned "correctly".
