Hello,

As part of regular maintenance procedures, I used the Verification tool provided by Windows XP, Home Edition, to verify the contents of my computer after a restart. While doing so, the LEDs of the cable modem were blinking, suggesting communication activity. I disconnected the cable modem to protect the computer from any unauthorized downloads, spyware and virus. When verification was completed, I opened a session on my user account, connected the modem and used the Defragmentation tool provided by Windows XP as a background process while doing some work on the computer.

This seems to have caused a Client error. I have a shared installation of BOINC 4.45 on a Windows XP, Home Edition, computer with 2 user accounts. I am using Einstein 0.03. Here is a copy of the Message logs:

Verification & Defragmentation causing Client error

I feel that running the defrag and another program is counter productive, just does not seem right to have 2 programs trying to access info at the same time and one is trying to reorder the info.

From the WIKI

Unrecoverable error for result '(result)' (The system cannot find the file specified. (0x2) - exit code 2 (0x2))
From BOINCWiki
[edit]General
Message Type: Error Message

This Message indicates that the files for the Result data, the Result Data File(s), cannot be located, is corrupt, or that there is some other error with the file system that prevents the BOINC Daemon or the [{Science Application]] from accessing the file.

If this happens regularly you may want to have your computer tested. If it is a computer running Microsoft Windows®, you can use the "check disk" program to test for, and fix, errors.

Note, you may have to reboot the computer to get the repair process started. This is because the Operating System "owns" the disk drive and it cannot be pried out of its "grubby" mitts.
If that clears up the problem, you may be good to go. If the problem occurs regularly and the "check disk" program if repairing each time it is run, well, you need to budget for a new disk drive. Or better still, a new and faster computer!

I don't think it says to run

I don't think it says to run both at the same time.

Perhaps it should state to shut BOINC down before "de-fragging", however, I frequently "de-frag" with BOINC running. I have other data that needs reordering.
