    I've just lurked a bit over at the SETI Cafe...And the news is not good...One person is already portraying the new rules as an "us versus them" issue...Describing the rules as an attempt to purge newcomers from the SETI board...I was very interested to see what this person had to say...I had hoped his take on the new rules would be a more positive one...Seeing that he was one of the most prolific posters in the rules thread...Instead what i saw was an attempt to spread fear and suspicion among the newcomers at SETI...An attempt to widen the gulf between the two groups...Instead of trying to bring them together...The chances of having a SETI Cafe that we would want to go back to looks to be sabotaged from the start...Stabbed in the back before it ever saw the light of day.

        I wouldn't say the rules are an attempt to purge newcomers, just how they're enforced. Hell, it's done a good job of purging old-timers as well, or there wouldn't be a refugee thread.

                  A whole thread disappeared yesterday.
                  I queried why it showed (x) posts on the index page but it in fact contained (y) posts. Later in the day, it contained (z) posts which was commented on by someone else. The whole thread has now disappeared.
