I have only just started using BOINC and Einstein @ home, but out of 8 WUs, only one has completed. The rest ended in the unrecoverable error:
11/10/2005 9:29:37 PM|Einstein@Home|Unrecoverable error for result l1_1384.0__1384.0_0.1_T11_S4lC_0 ( - exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005))
I see similar issues on this message board regarding an older version of BOINC. Is the bug still alive and kicking?
Thanks for any help!

Unrecoverable errors with BOINC 5.2.6 and E@H 4.79

Yes, the "graphics bug" is "still alive and kicking". It's a problem with the Einstein app (v4.79) and it is likely to occur with any BOINC version later than v4.19. As you have probably already read, you have two choices: 1/ quit using graphics (screensaver or "Show graphics" option); or, try the Beta app. (I recommend the Beta app). You can find the Beta app link under More Information on the E@H home page.
RE: I see similar issues on

Since it is the EAH science application and not BOINC that triggers the crash, a newer version of BOINC will not fix it. Hence the recommendation for the beta application. As a matter of interest, before you change to the beta, would you mind making sure that windows is set to blank the screen rather than use a particular screensaver and see if the next few results will indeed complete without any further Client errors. Of course avoid clicking the "show graphics" options in BOINC Manager. If you get no further errors then you know it is indeed the graphics bug.
At the moment you will have to wait for a bit because the client errors have reduced your daily allowance of results down to two and you have already used up the current daily allowance. When a new day ticks over you will be able to get two more and if they complete successfully, your allowance will be quickly and progressively restored.
Cheers,
Gary.

Sure, I'll give it a try. Thanks for your reply.

OK, I gave it a try for a few days. Setting the screen saver to "blank" eliminated the client errors.
Clicking the "Show Graphics" button has no ill effects. Next, I think I'll try letting another screen saver come alive... Thinking maybe it's only the E@H screen saver???
