I was getting the same errors with earlier versions of BOINC, all new installations on this laptop. I've tried single user, multiple user and service installations. Same thing. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

w1mnk,
If you look on your account page, here, you'll see that you have 7 identical computers listed (most likely 1 computer 7 times, a rather severe case of split identity), 4 with work listed as "in progress", and the oldest 3 with work that has missed deadline. Only the oldest of them has completed any work. The reason that the newer ones listed have finished no work is probably because you've deleted all the files (unnecessary and not recommended) in the Boinc folder when updating to the newer versions. I don't know why the WU on the intermediate computers went unfinished, given they had 3 to 5 days to crunch their respective WU before those computers were "replaced".
Look here, in the Boinc Wiki to read the explanation for the -109 errorcode, and do try to merge all of your older listed computers into the newest one, so those remaining 3 workunits are not wasted.

Michael

Michael, thank you for the tips. I have combined all the computer entries. However, I'm still getting:

I've checked the permissions, but nothing jumps out. I did look at the Wiki, and this particular message isn't detailed. Again, thank you for the help. Any help with this problem is greatly appreciated.

I just read this post by Gary Roberts in response to another problem report involving file "permissions". I am not sure if it applies to you - but it might.

Jon,
As you have credit attached to your name and as the machine is a laptop, is it possible that you share this machine (possible work machine??) with someone else and perhaps that other person uses the machine on a different network?? The snippets of information from the messages you list do seem to suggest this.
When you uninstall and reinstall, only the programs get refreshed. State files like client_state.xml are retained and if they were created by a different user at a time the machine had a different identity then the message you quoted would make some sort of sense. It looks very much like a "permissions" issue. If you can give more details we can probably work out a fix.
Cheers,
Gary.

The laptop is a personal PC, which I use for many things, including connecting to another laptop, via Remote Desktop. There are 2 users defined (besides administrator). Both users are in the Administrator group. Here is a link to a .jpg that shows all the permissions for my user name (Jon Maguire). BOINC was installed here as well.

Jon,
Your permissions look fine. You have full control.
However, I'm still puzzled by a couple of things.
1. Your benchmarks are listed as 0/0. What happens if you run the benchmark routine manually from within BOINC Manager?
2. You have accumulated credit. Did you by any chance take a copy of the BOINC folder from whatever machine initially gained the credit and paste that copy onto the current machine?
3. Do you, by any chance, support projects other than EAH? If so, any problems?
Cheers,
Gary.

Hi Gary, thank you for your help!! I did run E@H quite a while ago on this laptop, but I've rebuilt it recently. I can't even run the benchmark!!

Hi Jon,
I know you showed the "permissions" image for the BOINC folder but somehow you don't have permission to edit the state file. See the snippet above. Check the security properties of both client_state.xml and client_state_prev.xml and I suspect you will find you don't have the rights to modify those files. If that turns out to be correct, you should check all files in the BOINC folder. You need to give yourself the necessary permissions over all files by the look of it.
Cheers,
Gary.

I have joined Einstein at home about six months earlier.
Now I tried to install newer version on another PC, but I get the following screen to fill out: "Configuration Proxy, Proxy HTTP server and user password, Proxy Socks server and user password, also Port 80"
What does it means?

ciberi,
From what you have described, I am guessing that you downloaded BOINC about 10 days ago. There have been some updates since then which fix the problems you are having. The latest BOINC is 5.2.13. If you are using an earlier version, download the new BOINC and try again.
