I've had 17 of my last 20 units fail with "***UNHANDLED EXCEPTION****
Reason: Access Violation (0xc0000005) at address 0x004099D6 read attempt to address 0x404D6570" (see http://einsteinathome.org/host/1525/tasks for the units)
Any ideas? I tried installing BOINC 4.25, and getting it to download the core, but I'm still getting the same errors and it seems too specific an error to be random glitches but I'm at a loss to what else to test/clear/reinstall.

Interesting, the access violation occurred even on the wu sucessfully completed under BOINC V 4.25 and for which you received credit.
This access violation started under BOINC V 4.19 but doesn't show on the wu sucessfully completed under it.
How are the Einstein preferences set and are you using the screensaver? Are you running other BOINC projects on the system? It's possible this is a flaky hardware memory location.
Are you overclocking the system?
Also, there was some concern that the Einstein application could overheat some systems even when not overclocked. Have you tried downloading and using the following BOINC add-on:
ThreadMaster 1.12build128 Control max CPU usage and prevent overheat
It's found under the BOINC Add-ons link at the Einstein home page: http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/

Default preferences and on other BOINC projects. I'm dubious about the memory location since the same machine has over 10,000 credits already and has had no other issues. Since it is my home machine and regularly reset I doubt that the same bad memory location would be assigned time after time, but it can't hurt to run a full memory test.

Nope, it's a real XP3200+, stock settings.

I can give that a try... As I said, the same machine has more than 10,000 credits on E@H so this is a recent developement
If you are using the

If you are using the screensaver, try turning it off.
Also you should check out the "High Frequency of Client errors" thread if you haven't yet read it.
