the details visible on each project website are for that site alone. there is no data sharing between BOINC projects on the BOINC network or anything like that. everything is point to point.

good to know ...

but you're right that he contacted other projects. here's his system on Rosetta and you can see 8.0.2 there.

Probably all questions could

Probably all questions could be answered if he set http_debug logging in the client and posted the log entries afterwards.

I used the 7.16.20 version

I used the 7.16.20 version for a long time. I remember, several years ago, when a later 7.(?) version was released, I updated the BOINC to this version. Other projects were OK, except Rosetta. Despite my efforts (remove-reset Rosetta, replace the old Security Certificate with a new one) Rosetta didn’t work. So I had to remove the later 7. version and reuse the 7.16.20 version again.

But about 10 days ago, Rosetta appeared not to recognize the project’s download servers (?) - tasks were downloading but not downloaded! I waited for some days, lost all of the downloading tasks (Rosetta’s default dead line is 3 days) and got new downloading (but again not downloaded) tasks. Then I updated the BOINC to the 8.0.2 version. Rosetta and other projects are OK, but, as you see, E@H appeared not to recognize the project’s upload servers (?)

I am not much aware of IT, so what I can do is to remove and then to seret the E@H project. It is a pity that I will lose all of my "ready to reports" tasks!

Before updating I let crunching tasks complete their works, while suspending "ready to start" tasks. (For the previous updates I did the same procedures as for this update, and no problem happened).

And of course you rebooted after updating so the pc records all the changes?

Rosetta had/has a problem with hops around the World and hitting dead ends and just not trying anything else so the data isn't being transferred correctly, it's on THEIR end to fix it but in their forums there is an IP address to add in Linux, I have no idea if Windows even has the ability, to the etc/hosts file. It is temporary and MAY BREAK THINGS WHEN THEY FIX IT ON THEIR END, which is why I'm not posting it here. Yes my transfers in Rosetta are happening like they should again but I am waiting for it to break so I can edit the file again.

I have various pc's running Rosetta and only one Linux pc that hasn't been adjusted that are all getting and returning Rosetta tasks on time, they run Boinc versions from 7.16.6 to 8.04 and yes all the different versions work.

It is.

Windows has the ability. To edit the file you have to run the editor with administrative privileges ("run as administrator").

You can find the hosts file in:

C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\
