Until having eaten Paella in

Until having eaten Paella in Valencia

Until? I ate it the once, and then didn't stop eating it for the whole week we were there. I'd definitely do that again if I could :) though I wasn't a vegetarian then .... [open chasms of dilemma]....

Or I could just knock together what's in this cupboard, leaving out the cleaning fluid of course. We could be looking at a rather spectacular new cocktail here people... something resembling a Hurricane-Zombie-Painkiller combo.

Who wants their head tomorrow...?

Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.

I'll touch on beers in

I'll touch on beers in another post, not getting caught at the bar again!

Nope definitely not, so there, ptooey as the Yanks say!

I still think beer is disgusting,

If you're talking about lagers and Aussie stuff I heartily agree with you. Otherwise you are just about as wrong as you could be. I'll start with your part of the world and ask you a question. Why do you think there are so many micro breweries in the USA, and growing fast? 1500 at the last count. Because they are brewing REAL beer, not this top pressure rubbish keg stuff. Why do you think the phrase "lager louts" came about?

Turning to the UK, pop over and see me and I'll take you to some CAMRA approved pubs where they serve real ale. Or even better to a beer festival, where your palate can taste just about anything to your hearts desire.

Olympia

Oh and by the way beer temperatures. Real ales are kept at a cellar temperature of 12-14 C (54-57 F), which is somewhat cooler than room temperature. If real ale is too warm it loses its natural conditioning (the liveliness of the beer due to the dissolved carbon dioxide). So all this old cobblers of Limeys drinking warm beer is just that.

Conversely lager is kept 7-10C (45-50F). It has to be to mask the godawful taste!!! In any pub even the louts ask for a "lemon top" just to make it palatable.

But to our eternal shame (hang head) we had Watneys Red Barrel many years ago, and Party 7's to Saturday night shindigs. But we learnt the hard way.

Waiting for Godot & salvation :-)

I thought the Brits drank warm beer was because you had refrigeration by Lucas also known in automotive circles as "The Lord of Darkness"

Who wants their head

Who wants their head tomorrow?

I'd like to keep it right where it is thank you very much! What were you planning there Annie?

First you make sure we know the exits can be sealed at any time without prior notice, and now you are offering us our own heads? Should we run now, before you seal the exits?

*look at where it is*

Rly? You're that happy with it?

;)

What were you planning there Annie?

Erm... There?  Well...

First you make sure we know the exits can be sealed at any time without prior notice, and now you are offering us our own heads? Should we run now, before you seal the exits?

I had been planning to come in here and mention what I'd decided for my side quest. The one that if it was reached before the post number, would guarantee a winner before there was a winner... but someone *look at no Jonathan in particular* distracted me with their thoughts on alcohol. I'm not responsible for things that happen when that happens.

Anyway... if I may...? ';)

Inventions that solve problems!

They always seem such a good idea, don't they people...?

edit: I was going to remove the space from here but decided to fill it with this instead... and then edit it so it's smaller

I really shouldn't have bothered because I've now decided I need to put something else there instead,

...except now I have to put it here down there ---v

No idea, I pay no attention to them.

Beats me; I've never heard it.

My heart has no such desire, and my palate would never forgive me if I did that.

I think the Sweet Red with the cork is Bitter Creek or something like that. I've decided I can probably finish it, in small amounts.

Ah yes, dear Lucas, known for it's magnetos, alternators, windscreen wipers, horns, lighting, wiring and starter motors supplied to Morris and Austin. It also supplied magnetos, dynamos, alternators, switches and other electrical components to BSA, Triumph, and Norton. Every boy in the 50's had a Lucas dynamo that rubbed against the rear tyre for night lighting. Posher ones had the hub generators. All 6V stuff then later 12V, and the change from Pos earth to neg earth. Lorries were always 12V with 2 x 6v batteries in series.

In 1996, Lucas merged with the American Varity Corporation to form LucasVarity. Then it was sold to TRW and the Lucas brand name was licensed for its to Elta Lighting for aftermarket auto parts in the United Kingdom. The Lucas trademark is currently owned by ZF Friedrichshafen, which retained the Elta arrangement.

I'm working on my beer reply so do carry on looking for the secret exits that haven't been locked yet, and don't lose your heads, the lost property Dept is located in the broom cupboard down the hallway and is limited in space.

Inventions that solve

Inventions that solve problems. That is the hint to winning this thread?
Now what invention would Annie be looking for?

She want to offer heads, just heads. That would leave a body. That body could be considered a problem. Now there are many inventions that (dis)solve that problem.

There's of course the possibility to use an accid but a decent fire should also be sufficient.

In case Annie does intend on something peaceful (let's all hope and pray for that!), she might be looking for something from this list. But we could not be certain of that of course. But among my favorites are penicillin and the microprocessor.

I would say that the overall

I would say that the overall invention that has benefited mankind most was the wheel. It seems so obvious to us today, but why did it take so long in our evolution? Because of finding a stable platform to mount an axle.

The first use of the wheel for transportation was probably on Mesopotamian chariots in 3500 BC. It is believed that the Egyptian pyramids in 2560 BC were built moving large blocks of stone on rollers.
