And that was post number 100 and that one did not win either.
When you are asleep you don't feel pain, so especially when you are in pain you should love sleeping. Falling asleep can be extra painful though, that part about sleeping would be awful.
I guess Mikey can tell you all about how much longer it takes to fall asleep when you are in pain. Or should I say that his bed could tell?
Think I'll stick to my own bed thanks, I know if I've slept well or not, I don't need a machine to tell me. And of course if you are tired you will sleep quicker, been the same since cavemen hunted all day for wild boar and deer.
Waiting for Godot & salvation :-)
Why do doctors have to practice?
You'd think they'd have got it right by now
Adjustable sleepnumber. Right, now what does it mean and what does that bed adjust automatically? Cooling, air-conditioning inside your matrass?
Pretty much two common types of adjustment: firmness and head elevation. i.e. how soft/hard the mattress is, and whether the head portion can lift up and down.

WINNING!!!
Exactly except mine is one that does not have the ability to raise the head up, that was an extra charge and we didn't see the need for it since both my wife and I use a CPAP machine so snoring isn't an issue. They do have more add-ons that you can add like a mattress pad to keep your feet warmer than you upper body to help you sleep better, but we didn't get that either. Essentially it's a bed with a big air bladder in it, two of them since it's a king size bed and I have one on my side of the bed and my wife has one on her side of the bed and they can each be adjusted individually. You go into the store, lay on their bed and the tech runs the bed thru the auto setup feature they have there, that gives you your starting "sleep number", then the electronic mesh that sits under the air bladders hooks up to your wifi system and monitors your sleep and tells you how you slept thru an app on your smart phone or tablet, letting you adjust your number so you sleep better. My sleep number for instance is 35, I'm 63 and my hips hurt, I also sleep on my side and that means a lower pressure lets the bed shift more of my body pressure to the rest of my body and off of my hips, so I sleep better. When I go to a hotel they tend to have much harder beds and I sleep more on top of the mattress, rather than sinking into it like at home, and wake up with very sore hips. Someone who sleeps more on their back or front would have a much different number as they wouldn't want to sink into the mattress as much as I do.
So there's some kind of measurement going on to measure air pressure inside the bed as well as motion sensors that will detect how much you move. Now what if you cuddle up against one another, the air pressure will be greater, will it then know that the weight is larger on one matrass and lower on the other being smart enough to recognize that sort of things? Generally an air pressure matrass will have a different pressure at warm weather then when it's colder. Having a pump with a sensor will remove that limitation to such a matrass.
I think I could do some pretty nice things with motion + weight and air pressure. You could even go as far as noticing the person that is on the bed by their weight and then auto adjust to that persons preferences regardless of wether they take the right of left side of the bed.
I think I'd hook that up to my lighting, if I get out of bed then turn on the lights.
If someone enters the room and there is someone in the bed, then only turn on the reading light at the empty side of the bed, else if the bed is empty turn on the main light. And if I get into the bed and the main light is on, then... well, plenty of things to automate :D
I guess you would not know if there is an API available for those sensors? I would not want that data to be disclosed across the internet, but would love to have it available locally!
I always thought that beds were fairly simple devices that people slept in/on. You can buy double beds with different levels of orthopaedic mattresses on each side quite easily. Well it appears that for some people it has to be a complete audio sensory experience. Do you have to switch it off to start a family so it doesn't get confused? No, don't answer that.

I'd like to have an adjustable bed (and in fact I still have the frame of my father's in storage). My back hasn't tolerated lying flat or on my side in years, but sometimes my legs get sore from the leg rest of the recliner not being at the right angle. I really don't think a Sleep Number would help me much. When I'm at a hotel, I usually have to prop myself up against the headboard with pillows. When I took the train to New Orleans and splurged for an Economy Sleeper, I had to undo the bed and put it back in daytime configuration, two seats.
Well. Anyway. Having been up until 2:30 writing about my weekend, I really want to go back to sleep, but I really need to get dressed and go to the pharmacy.
