Wishing all a pleasant run into Thursday and beyond.
Ah well, a run indeed! This weekend DownUnda we have the pinnacle event of our motorsport year : the Bathurst 1000 km race. Basically alot of high performance* saloon-type cars go up and down a mountain recurrently, each of some 161 times returning to the same spot. So I'll be watching that avidly. I have a friend who is the co-driver for one of the top teams (Lowndes/Richards) and thus I will be barracking for him. May neither stray from the track .... :-))
Cheers, Mike.
* They run an 85% ethanol mix with a 107 octane rating.
My best wishes to team Lowndes/Richards, then. :-)
You have awoken memories of the first Paris/Dakar rally to route through Morocco, Dr Hewson. Now lost to South America due to turbulent times. It passed a mere stone's-throw from my wife's family home.
A double posting-event is allowed if it's art, isn't it? I'm sure I read that somewhere. *wink wink*
If it was on the internet, it must be true. I think that's a law or something. Yes... ;)
what do you reckon ? Duck or goose ?
I'd duck I think, definitely... give it more room to manoeuvre. I see what you mean about the shipwreck one. My first thought was that something like a giant slug was ingesting the Eiffel tower via some sort of particle-absorption method.
It sounds like they should know all the twists and turns after the first few laps!!
Seems like they did get the hang of them really well, too, Mikey! And 8 to 1 is a very nice return not to be sniffed at either ... *sniff at it*
;)
I hope everyone's having a nice weekend? Mine turned a bit pear-shaped yesterday so I'm hoping for a better other-half of it today.
Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.

Anyway, rather than bothering to Read The Fine Manual, you can just keep hitting the next button and it's huge set of parameters are given random values. Many results are boring, but some inspire :

Cheers, Mike.
( edit ) It's no wonder some artists go mad ..... or conversely maybe you have to mad to be an artist. For me, I don't really know art but, as is said, I know what I like. :-))
( edit ) FWIW : A chap called David Bohm ( whom with Louis De Broglie came up with a causal version of QM devoid of random transitions ) talked of implicate vs explicate order. For the above the implicate order is the ( hidden ) values of the parameters, whereas the explicate order is the resulting pictures after the parameters have guided the rendering engine. Physics is very much about finding the rules ( implicate ) that dictate the phenomena ( explicate ) that we see & measure. Here at E@H we have General Relativity determining the tiny wiggles of a hyper-sensitive detector, looking for eg. pimples on neutron stars.
I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

I'm not sure I've ever seen a weasel in a cloud shape, but I know I saw one once in some popcorn, just before I ate it. It's a handy method of making a tub of the stuff last until beyond the lights going down in the cinema and the film starting, I've found, otherwise... I run the risk of not being able to annoy everyone nearby by munching handfuls of it a good part of the way through. The ratio of poodles and teddy bears, to weasels, is quite high though, but as long as that doesn't get too tedious...
I might have to give those fractal generator things a go. Not having to read a manual to get started sounds very liberating and comes at the perfect time really... when I should be getting on with doing stuff around the house instead.
Thanks, Mike! :)

Could have some variation by putting Escher designs/pictures on other wall.
That's a great idea, I can see some high end home remodelers using one of those instead of hiring a painter. Set it up and let it do it's thing, perfect every time!!

Well, Sirs Lowndes & Richards have indeed WON the race ! :-)

My reference to Hamlet Act 3
My reference to Hamlet Act 3 Scene 2 :
POLONIUS : My lord, the queen would speak with you, and presently.
HAMLET : Do you see yonder cloud that's almost in shape of a camel?
LORD POLONIUS : By the mass, and 'tis like a camel, indeed.
HAMLET : Methinks it is like a weasel.
LORD POLONIUS : It is backed like a weasel.
HAMLET : Or like a whale?
LORD POLONIUS : Very like a whale.
.... this is Hamlet trying to make Polonius sound like the old duffer that he is. Slightly later on Hamlet cracks off quite darkly :
HAMLET : 'Tis now the very witching time of night,
When churchyards yawn and hell itself breathes out
Contagion to this world. Now could I drink hot blood
And do such bitter business as the bitter day
Would quake to look on. Soft, now to my mother.—
O heart, lose not thy nature, let not ever
The soul of Nero enter this firm bosom.
Let me be cruel, not unnatural.
Cheers, Mike.
( edit ) What a cool printer. Next time I have $60K spare I'll get a few. :-)
