I've just started running on a machine with 2x7970s.
The BRP6-opencl-ati units I'm seeing have an initial estimate of ~31 hours. They're finishing in around 1.5 hours.

How long do the time estimates take to adjust to something closer to reality?

The more units you finish the better it will be.

I find they settle quite quickly, pretty accurate after a few days.

Set your GPU utilization

Set your GPU utilization factor to 0.33 or 0.25 and the estimates will be much closer to reality. :-)
