I currently have 63 tasks sat at 99.879% 'waiting to run' it seems Boinc gets to this value and then starts another new task on the basis of it being a high priority task even though its due on the same day as others sitting at 99.879%.
I have set Boinc to 'wont get new tasks' but it seems to go get them anyway.
The machine is an i7 Win 7 Pro, two other laptops are not affected in any way, both Core Duo Win 7.
Thanks

Tasks gets to 99.87% and then Boinc satrts a new task
)
Yes, that's a problem of the (newer?) BOINC client(s). It's not an Einstein problem.
If you want to micro-manage, you could suspend all tasks "ready to start" (those at 0% progress) until all tasks "waiting to run" are completed. You can mark whole blocks of tasks using the ctrl or shift keys while selecting.
That shouldn't happen (save for "resends"). Double check the Status column in the Projects tab.

Gundolf
[edit]Or didn't you see the tasks "ready to start" because you have selected "Show active tasks only"? If so, click "Show all tasks" in the Tasks tab.[/edit]

I'm having the same troubles
)
I'm having the same troubles as Sir Barsteward of Pubs with to many downloaded work units when I've clicked no new tasks more were sent and near finished units stopped working to move on to a new unit.
I've suspended all but two off the 100 units I have and when finished I will set four at a time.
I have too many work units due 22nd, 24th and 27th December can I send them back so the server knows or send email to some body to cancel half the units OR Just delete them not sure what to do. I've looked at forums I haven't got the time to search and search for the answer. I've been crunching units for one month only for Einstein@Home.

RE: I'm having the same

FIRST welcome aboard!!
Second you can do anything you'd like, the Server is setup to recognize when a unit is overdue and will automatically resend it out to someone else, but you will need to delete the units off your pc when they expire if you choose this path, if you don't you could end up crunching them but get no credits for them. You can also abort the units now that you won't be able to finish and the Server will send them out to someone else as soon as you do that. Either way the Server doesn't much care.
The switching of units from a nearly finished one to a new one is a Boinc software problem and is being looked at in new releases, I don't know if it has been fixed yet or not though.
G'day mikey, thank you for a

G'day mikey, thank you for a quick reply also the welcome, thanks.
Thanks again for your info that's great.
So I aborted all new units I have six active units to complete.
Since 6.10.58 for Windows has issues I'm going to complete active units while no new tasks is active and than do a complete uninstall from C:\Program Files\BOINC ; C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC
and install the earlier 6.6.38 Older version dated 28 Oct 2009. Hopefully this issue isn't in version- 6.6.38
Great help mikey.

Zelong.

You won't be able to run CUDA
)
You won't be able to run CUDA work with a 6.6 BOINC version here at Einstein. This project requires that you run at least 6.10, any lower will just not be served CUDA (GPU) work.
So then the "technical hitch" that is plaguing this project for now shouldn't be a problem for you, as your BOINC will get an answer that your BOINC version is outdated on each request for CUDA work. Oh and the technical hitch is a server problem, it's the server that's causing the extra work. It's independent really of BOINC version.
Of course, a simpler thing would be to set (temporarily) your preferences not to use CUDA, instead of going back to a more bug-ridden BOINC version. And while you're around, read through Scheduler went nuts, which is (in my opinion) more on topic in your situation than what you think is happening.
RE: You won't be able to
)
G'day Ageless thanking you for reply, I meant to mention will a reinstall fix this issue but you answered it anyway :) I'll leave it as it is than Ageless. In the meantime I'll manually request updates and click no new tasks after I have enough units to complete. Until I have a good look at the workings, I guess there's a command line.

RE: Until I have a good
)
Heh, that and boinccmd, the BOINC command (line) tool.
See this FAQ for the BOINC command line commands, and this FAQ for the BOINC Command Tool commands.
But if you're thinking it's easier through there to get work or not, then I think you're seeing it wrong. The GUI (BOINC Manager) is best for that. However, for temporarily disabling the GPU -for instance- you can run best with the command line ("boinc --no_gpus" in this case).

Can he just set Einstein to no gpu work and then get gpu work from another project instead, for now? Would that solve the scheduler problems here at Einstein? I crunch Einstein cpu units only, I have my gpu's elsewhere, and am not seeing the scheduler issues others are is why I am asking.
RE: Can he just set
)
Yes, by setting that in the Einstein project preferences, CUDA to no. Those affect the Einstein project only, not any other project.
